  1. So you say hilling is a waste of time and then you turn around two minutes later and you say you should hill them to keep the green off of them. The truth is you have to hill them just for that one reason to keep the sun off of them, then mulch them to keep down the weeds. I've grown potatoes for probably 40 years and if you don't pull something up over the potato. you're going to be discouraged when it comes time to pick them and you see all the tops are green on them. Potatoes need to be covered up.

  2. Sooooo… Spring isn't in until another month or so up here. Just started some seedlings a couple of weeks ago as to not grow them too early.

  3. When you say "One seed potato per 5 gallons of soil", do you mean one seed potato TOTAL, or one chunk of seed potato with an eye on it? Mine are a bit large so I am planning to divide them some, and not sure how this is counted.

  4. try growing native plants from your area, like California poppy and milkweed. they are easy to grow and are perfect for dry conditions. Also, it’s good for wildlife.

  5. I would love to try my hand at planting a few things, see if I like it, but I have a gigantic oak tree in my backyard that bears a ton of fruit/nuts every year and therefore, tons of squirrels and the occasional raccoon. Should I just abandon the idea right now? (Nothing scares these guys, they're slowly eating through my tulip bulbs and the ones they leave to grow, they eat the flowers the second they bloom.)

  6. I need your advice Kev, I planted my zucchini, squash and cucs 2 weeks ago, all had true leaves, as soon as the real sun hit (80's) a few days ago, they're all wilting and sagging, only huge umbrellas saved them from an early grave? I follow your instructions, amended the soil, watering carefully…why are my seedlings so "stressed" ? Thanks my friend, I wouldn't ask for individual advice, but it's my entire spring and 2 mos of hard work in jeopardy.

  7. So planning on finally putting in 3 raised beds to start. Ive watched almost all of your videos and still feel kinda lost in how to start out. Im in pa our zone is 5b i think, planning to do potatoes, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, strawberry, lettus, ginger an herbs mainly. The beds are probably going to be 4×8 or 3×6. Im stuck on 3 main problems. 1 soil, 2 watering each correctly, 3 feed. Im going to start a compost bin this year but need to know what soil is best to use should i mix some of my ground soil in?

  8. I really like your content! I am a student living in a small apartment, I really wish to have a small garden next time I move, but for now, I make do with pots in the windows. I live in Scandinavia, and my apartment has only windows to the north, have managed to grow successful chilli peppers and herbs still, but I can feel the plants struggle.
I understand that you primarily work outside, but I would like to hear your thoughts on "gardening" indoors, under non-ideal conditions, on limited space and budget. In one of your videos, I think you mentioned you had done indoors hydroponics? Is that worth looking into? I considered it once, but didn't know where to start 🙂

  9. I’ve been trying to grow Lettuce for spring but haven’t had a lot of luck. I live in Colorado, so I started them indoors but they were getting long, so I got grow lights. Still having issues
