What do you want to see me talk about more in light of recent news?
Urban setting gives me a flashback to Bangor, Maine in the 80s, as a friend tried to grow tomatoes in his backyard but they were confiscated when he was working, he never caught those people and he didn't get many tomatoes for his efforts, so the question is, how to protect your produce, You got to sleep sometime.
YOU FORGOT COLLARD GREEN (TREE COLLARD GREENS)>>>>>>>
What the Aztec and mayans ate, they were so smart.
Good stuff, really liked,thanks
Never was much of a gardener but starting too.
Mint is a good hardy option.
Loved your video thanks
i believe this is more popular then ever before
I have been gardening my whole life. IT is no picnic. I struggle with weeds, insects, worms, weather, and rodents. I imagine in a Post Apocalyptic World, you would also be infested with people stealing your crops. If you think you will survive with a front yard garden – think again. Might be worth your while to make Peace with our fellow humans, instead of annihilating them.
I would include Okra because it produces a lot and they are actually better when you dry them because it gets rid of the hyper slime factor and what results is a great stew thickener.
Radishes, you can eat the bulbs and the greens and the seed pods and are very quick to grow.
Peas carefully planted during the cooler temperatures.
And tomatoes. Dried tomatoes are really the best.
Reasonable. Good list…
As a Native American Indian who grew up off grid, I believe you did a great job. All of these are wonderful, easily grown anywhere basic foods!!
How about garlic and shallot chives? Easy to grow and can work well with taters.
A buddy told me an Indian growing trick, I tried it and it works. Corn, Beans and Peas in the garden together. Corn acts as the trellis for the others to grow on. Wind storm hit and wiped out the corn but still had peas and beans..
Thank you, Epic Gardening!! I just named my garden "APOCALYPSEEDS". 😀
Famine is on the way, they are planning.
onions
Carrots store well also. Glad u touched on the herbs. Also good for remedies. Thank you. Love the great info. Blessings. Kathleen
It is amazing what you've done with virtually no land. But what crosses my mind in a residential setting such as yours is how your garden will be thieved if there were an economic disaster forcing self-sufficiency. Homes will be looted too, for whatever staples stored, particularly in garages. You cannot do all this without considering how to KEEP all that you've produced for survival. You're literally placing food a hand grab from a public sidewalk. Yikes!
Jerusalem artichokes, nettles, walking onions would survive an apocalypse
you should hav prept other food too
Fantastic video on an n important topic. Well researched and thoughtfully explained. Thanks!
any root vegetable that will grow all winter and ready in spring
Good, onions are missing– look into wild growing edible plants, you ll be surprised how much is just growing around.
Boil em, mash em, stick em in a stew
Whats the point in surviving, when there is no garlic or onion in your garden ? 😀
