  1. Love the tour of the property. Lists are awesome to have and put your goals out into the universe and the satisfaction of completing and fulfilling those dreams and visions. I’m so unfocused and lazy, thank you for reminding to put my tasks on paper. I love your farm and one of my dreams is to have own too. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.

  2. Haha too funny that Miah bought all the project supplies. I am the designated shopper for our family, and my husband gave me multiple lists of supplies so we would have all the supplies for the summers projects! We are building terraced gardens as we live on a south facing slope 🙂

  3. Made my list as I watched this video- no holding back! Despite the fact that I'm stuck in this NY apartment, and that the world is as it is, and that I don't know what the life plan is any more… I will someday have sunflowers, Brussels sprouts, and blueberries!

  4. Ha hi jess I had to laugh about the lists…now let me first say I just have only a small garden, but I'm a little OCD…ish….this year unbeknownst to self I guess I had made a new rule this year "NO" lists…I would write lists, look at the lists, pin up and check off the lists revise the lists….this year for me I wanted to be "free" of the lists…not even a garden plan! Now that's serious. Good luck in all your endeavors this year.

  5. Love that y’all got those hens. My roommate says I am a sucker for the misfits. I always take to the less fortunate chickens which always turn to the sweetest ones. Deep down I know they were given love they deserve!

  6. From someone who has run an animal shelter for 10 years, and vomits at commercial animal agriculture and feels it should be banned, – I bless you. Thank you J&J.

  7. I can't tell you how much I learn from you, Jess and Miah. Your advise about a 5 year plan has helped me so much. Although I will never have a homestead as large as yours, I do have almost an acre which was a blank canvas, and a coop with 6 hens (the only livestock we're allowed where we live). I live in Wisconsin and work outside my home full time so the actual time I have to get projects done in which the weather is favorable is small. I used to bite off more than I could chew in the excitement of the spring, and it set me up for failure. Now I make a list of everything I'd love to do (expand the vegetable garden, plant some berry bushes, build a greenhouse) and check off the things I think I can accomplish this year, then cut one more job off of my list for the year. When I start feeling like I'm not getting enough done, I try to remember it's a 5 year plan even though the scale is so much smaller. It's made me so much happier, and I get more accomplished because I'm able to see my accomplishments, rather than the things I haven't gotten done.

  8. I'm doing some video catch up today and watching this in the end of July. Your chickens are beautiful and I'm sure those new chickens that looked so sad, in March when this was filmed, are probably now very happy, beautiful chickens too.

  9. I don't know how YouTube knew I needed to hear your message on the power of a list, but it's exactly the advice, motivation, and encouragement I needed today, so thank you for that Jess! My boyfriend and I started our own garden in southwest Missouri in April and have been watching so many garden videos that yours popped up and I'm so grateful! You are such an amazing teacher, mother, wife, gardener, and lover of Christ, I strive to be like you more everyday I watch your videos. I have felt unmotivated and lazy lately, but having them playing all morning have been so helpful for me to get my list started today. You are a blessing to me!

  10. I haven’t seen this video yet until today. I had no idea that chickens in the egg industry were treated so horribly. Today is the day that I will never buy store bought eggs again. I’m gonna to wait for my happy healthy ladies to lay naturally.
