Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂
Thanks for the review, I was just at bunnings about to grab one and decided to do a quick search for a review. You save me there!
Seems to me that a must after setting this up is to use something to tie around it several times at top, middle, bottom to bind it all together so shifting of dirt & logs doesn't push the walls out.
Soon as you said plastic I knew it would not last very long because of the UV rays.
More drama than Starsky & Hutch
Thanks for your review may i say an improvement would be, actual cost length of time in use. Thanks noel nz.
Whack a few tec screws in through the verticle sides into the corrugated iron so it can't migrate out. Thanks for the video
Hi mark you said to remind you to put the panels back the way they come out you put the bottom panel on top opps
Cheers
I keep white vinegar in a dish soap bottle and apply it on the perimeters of garden beds to kill off weeds and unwanted grass. I also use it around my firepit to keep that area as dirt and safe from fire spread.
Have you heard of sheet mulching
I make my own raised garden beds, which might take a bit more time, but are cheaper and last for ever
Before you fill it in, install a mid brace and your problems are over
The logs don't cause the beds to bulge in the middle
What about in the uk. Where can you get them?
I am wondering as i want to try a corragated garden bed. Would Waratah work for corners?
im building some today out of repurposed roofing metal.
I love your videos. I watch them all. thank you for sharing your experience. You've helped me so much!
why rebuild it … replacement looks like a better option. Ie the failure will recur.
This man works so hard
Ggggg
Your too polite !
I never heard it called a piece of “Junk” ..
By the end of the video I wanted to sue the company LOL ! Someone please bring this gent some water ! : )
Its not your mistake, those corners should have been metal too, then that warping wont happen
Well done you did good fixing it hat bulge bed. It looking good now .
We have a few of these. They have a threaded rod through the middle if u want to use it. – after 3 weeks one of ours blew out and split the metal at the bolt. So now we have a hole and split in the side of the long end of the bed- small but still it is a split that will only grow.
E Tool – military service…..got it.
Like your videos, but the techno music is terrible!!! Had to mute the audio. Please keep the music more mellow?
They work well if you have a budget, the plastic is easy to replace with some thin angle and screws, i currently have close on 18 of them and they're around half the price of Birdies raised beds which I also have.
