Hope someone can help. I have only recently begun to rebuild my plant knowledge after many years of not being involved. I don’t have resource books yet and not sure where to start.
Thanks to Roosevelt at http://www.youtube.com/user/MiWilderness I believe we have an ID. The root stock is edible and has medicinal uses. Another source says the berries are inedible but yet another claims they are. Both of those sources are linked below.
Polygonatum biflorum or a closely related species. I typically see two flowers or berries hanging down, not three, but have seen photos with four.
Solomon's seal is the common name and it's easily distinguished from False Solomon's seal by the berries which hang down from EACH leaf node, and by the rihizome which is quite distinct. A scar is left from each tear's growth and this scar is where the plant gets it's common name.
If there's a lot around dig up the rhizome/ root and you will see.
I have a video on false Solomon's seal on my channel if you want to see the differences.
