Wow wow wow the love is almost overwhelming my heart is full and God is good!!!!!
I am just listening to these videos while I work on paintings. They are like a balm to my soul, with the soothing music and laid back "chatting". But since I grew up on a farm with chickens and milking goats and now live in the suburbs around LA (and miss the farm so much) I realized the sounds of chickens clucking and cicadas buzzing and the milk in the milking pail are not part of MY life right now, but it's good to know those sounds still exist, they are being enjoyed by someone and are able to be shared via social media 🙂 🙁
I love to eat radishes fresh but only if their really mild tasting. If they're spicy, I'll fry them with butter and use flaky salt on them. Served as a side to dishes like scrambled eggs or anything BBQ:ed it's the best!
I love your videos and your support for others. There is so much negativity in the world, it is great to see your positive impact.
I have been binge watching your channel for a few days now. . . Guess I am going to try radishes again! They bolted for me in the spring and I decided I wasnt going to grow them again because I just dont like them raw too much. Maybe in a salad and sliced uber thin and on occasion I'll eat them pickled. Welp something came and ate my cabbage(we rent so container gardening) and I now have extra room for something. I was scratching my head trying to figure out what to plant other then more greens. Guess it going to be lots of radishes and we are going to roast them!
Wow, radish flowers are gorgeous… Do bees like them when you let them go to seed?
You are such a sweet person…always ready to help and uplift another homesteader. Much love to you.
I did it before I saw this video- and they are soooooooo good!
I planted radishes on your say-so and want to thank you! The bugs are leaving my zucchini alone (radishes surround it) AND I used my first radish greens to make a nice Korean dish today. Sharing that recipe with you here:
Radish Greens stir fry –
Cut up 2 cups radish greens and 1 cup of spinach (frozen okay, just put in strainer with radish greens as you're cleaning them and it'll defrost). Squeeze water out of greens. Heat pan on high heat, add 1 tsp olive oil. Take a clove of garlic and let it pop in the pan for a minute to flavor the oil, then discard garlic. Add greens and stir constantly until all are wilted (less than a minute) remove from heat and pour sauce over greens and stir. Serve with rice as a meal or as a side dish.
Sauce ingredients- 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar*, 1 tbsp +/- honey according to preference, 1tsp sesame oil (to taste.)
*can use white wine or regular vinegar if no other on hand
This video might be a year old but I stopped and subbed to SDH right away! Thank you for the recommendation 🙂
I am currently growing radishes for the first time & I look forward to roasting them. Thank you so much for sharing your passion for gardening & homesteading! Much love & continued blessings to you and your family!
I enjoy your “kid garden”. It resembles my “grown up” garden.
You have inspired me to try roasted radishes! Thank you!
OMG — of course, you are right — roasted radishes (I just did a bunch with a zucchini and a couple of potatoes) are AMAZINGLY GOOD, barely taste like a radish, more like a watery potato with an interesting mild flavour. From now on, there will be many roasted radishes in my future, esp since they only take about 25 days in the garden. Thank you so much, Jess.
Hi Jess! So many people talk about roasting radishes, but never say how to do it, so thank you for sharing this!
"You are a man obsessed with pruning." LOL!!! What a great one-liner ^_^
my mexican childhood taught me if you can turn something into a spicy pickle, then i'll eat it! just checked out what i thought were beets i had planted but i'm sure they're lady finger radishes i'm going to roast up and serve with pumpkin pasta
I could eat Ben with a spoon! Lol
They are really good in beef roast, carrots, onions and radishes cooked in a slow cooker with your favorite seasoning..
I love sauteed radishes in Olive oil and garlic. I cook the greens with them after the skins lighten and they get tender. The greens end up being like a spinach amongst the delicious radishes.
Tried roasting radishes for the first time today! I hate radishes, but I loved them roasted!
I love roasted radishes. Never liked the spicy things, until I roasted them! A complete game changer! They do t taste like radishes, but potatoes! I love them now!
It's funny I came across this old one in my feed talking about radishes because you're the reason I planned French breakfast radishes this year. ❤️✌️
