@Silkymits2000 I could keep over 100 easily by poultry standards but i like my quial to have their space so i wont go over 40 in this sized pen not that i need anymore birds anyway for personal use. I dont have to wedge the door shut when I'm inside as the door stays shut on its own and is too heavy for quail to push open anyway. Cheers, mark
Awesome run! Thats really cool ๐ If you have time can you go check out my quail coop/run?
( i have california quail in mine) and do you sell any of your birds, if so how much and can you ship them?
Thumbs up.
Hogan
@QuailReview Thanks Hogan, I appreciate your comment. I had a look at your quail coop vid – well done, good skills! California quail are beautiful birds. I have a variety of coturnix quail, which don't fly quite like the California ๐ I would sell some of my quail stock but I'm afraid I can't ship them sorry – it'd have to be pick-up and I think you're a little too far to pop over my joint lol. I'm sure you'll find some stock locally. Cheers mate, Mark
Do you have any problems with predation? Animals getting thru your fencing? Just wondered…thanks for the video:)
No problems with predators. Actually, the main reason for building the run with thick aviary mesh was to totally exclude any chance of a rodent, snake, lizard, dog, cat, hawk, or any other animal getting through – lots of preds here been "burnt" b4 but never again ๐ Also, digging the mesh down at least a foot below ground is usually deep enough but a person may go down 2-3 feet to be totally safe – that's extreme but) & galvanised aviary mesh lasts much better too. Thanks for your question ๐
Mark i was wondering if you sell some quail i live near brisbane were do u live i could come and pick some up ๐
Hi Leo, unfortunately over Xmas and New Years our friends and family went nuts on our quail (we ate about 40-50). I got busy hatching out some more but my stocks are still a little low ATM and through winter ours go off the lay because I don't believe in using artificial lights – the females need a break. Pop me an email next spring (via my blog contact) if your still keen and we can discuss it privately.
Nice video and I learned a good amount of tips from it…thanks for sharing…was one of the best I've seen…about time I found a good one ๐
Thank you very much Hauntee! It's nice of you to take the time to comment, cheers ๐
