Very nice! But of course you have the land to plant these trees….but some of us have only small urban gardens…(;o(
Hi, I've planted about 152 this year and about 100 have spouted. You know about this leaf miner from Eastern Europe that highlight the conker tree and burrow into the leaves? It doesn't kill the tree but slows done its growth. I advise that when the leaves start to appear, protect the young trees with a fine pest net to keep the miner moth off the leaves, otherwise they attack the leaf which will brown and just die off from mid June to July. Protect the young tress leaves with the finest net you can buy from the local garden centre.
did the tree that dropped the seeds have white pink or red flowers
there is some new high breed horse chestnut trees
I don't think ownership of land should be seen as a barrier to planting trees, Sue. I have many trees growing steadily in pots and am looking forward to planting them out in a year or so. I am confident I will find suitable spots here and there.
Chestnuts conkers
I planted a Conker and it sprouted perfect and I could see the beginning of leaves but the sprout snapped. Does that mean the Conker is now dead and won’t grow?
