Mint is a lovely smelling Herb and you may have had Peppermint or spearmint gum or mint with a fresh taste, that’s what the leaves taste like as well. It is an easy herb to grow in water and the next video with propagating mints will just be using general compost. A great easy fun project and can be done on a commercial scale. Cool, is it your favorite herb?
hello …..
when i buy the mint i put it in water it keep the mint fresh
thx for the Vid
Hi Huw, that isn't spearmint… Spearmint has a pointed leaf. There are so many mints and so many cross bred mints that its hard to know what you are actually buying. I am only telling you this as someone kindly told me my herb bed didn't have spearmint in as well.. 🙁
Great videos mate, keep it up!
Thankyou, I don't know what it could be then! Anyway they are not for selling, thanks or the info!
No problem! Thanks for watching!
ah just what i needed, my neighbour gave me a little old mint plant and i need to do cuttings, thanks. does it work without the hormone powder?
so what if nothing happens after a week or even two keep them in water or use them and try again ? great video thanks for sharing 🙂
Yes it does work without it, I managed to do it last summer but it took them longer to root! Thanks for watching!
Yeah keep them maybey change the water again until they die, it's worth it and you may get an extra couple of plants! Thanks!
Do you sell any of your plants or is it just as a hobby? Your vid's are great, I also have an obsession with taking cuttings!!
It is both, I've been selling plants or a few years now but it is like a profitable hobby but I would like to take a degree in gardening to improve my skills and start a plant nursery! I love taking cuttings! So Much! Thanks
Yes it can, like many other Herbs they are great on the window sill where they get plenty of light and easy to pick off a few sprigs or leaves, it also smells nice so do it. Thanks for watching
Check out my latest video to see how my mints have done, I'm glad your trying it out! 🙂
Thank you so much for posting this video. I was wondering if one can do the same with cuttings from dill? And also, i noticed you used a small opaque yogurt or pudding type of a container. Did you do this because its necessary to have darkness around the stem or can one can use a clear glass?
What am I doing wrong ? My mint cuttings die in 1/2 day.
Letting the compost dry out maybe, check out my new aeroponics kit I got to get 100% success rates with mint, it's under videos on my channel. Thanks
I found it doesn't really matter, they will grow a touch better in darkness but I found no real difference, thanks for watching!
Bought a packet of Sainsburys mint, saved the freshest-looking stems and trimmed as you said and stood in water (didn't have the powder) Roots appeared within 5 days and potted on into a cuttings compost.
Is it too late to harden one of them off and plant outside? I love to see a good bed of mint really getting a good 'hold' in a corner of the garden especially if it covers the 'muck ruck' as my Granddad called it!
Thanks so much for your excellent videos !
I do the same thing but with out the white stuff and dont have to dip them in water I just cut them and stick them in the dirt , they start to grow in weeks.,
joker plant cuttings in pro mix o compost 3 days roots as long as it have water
Thanks for making this video quick and to the point. Very helpful!
Does this work with spearmint?Because every time i try to find out about spearmint, all I find is stuff about mint.
What kind of fertilizer did you use I couldnt catch that!
Make sure you use bottled water for your plant to grow well.
Can you do this at any time of year?
How many sprays of water for cuttings? I know the soil has to be most but how much?
does the water need to be changed frequently before it roots?
