People travel long distances to come to Esslingen because it has maintained most of it’s traditionalism. Esslingen Christmas markt has 2 section. One is a modern section and another is a medieval section or Mittelalter. Most of the video and pictures are from the Mittelalter markt. Christmas markt are places where people come together primarily to have a good time. The stalls sell a variety of things. Many of which are handmade items and most are small relatively inexpensive. One stall sells nativity scenes that are rather expensive but are completely handmade and the all the figures are hand carved and hand painted. You will find NO Verizon or ATT sales stand here! You WILL find some very good Gluhwein (hot spiced wine), Eier (egg) liquor, Kinder punsch, Bratwurst, Rotwurst, fresh baked bread, nuts, candy, fruit and, above all, a good time!
