good job, thanks for the video
Thanks mate 🙂
Would a chicken plucker work to remove quail feathers?
Yes probably but "they" do sell specific quail pluckers (small bird plucker) don't know much about why or how just know that pluckers are really expensive! Cheers
I know that story lol! I like to mince ours and make balls or burgers out of them. Cheers 🙂
That's great! Yeah, quail are probably easier than chickens to keep IMHO. If you ever want to chat or share ideas about your quail consider joining our forum Self Sufficient Culture (.com) be nice to have someone else with quail to chat about them – currently I'm the only quail keeper on our forum… Cheers 🙂
Next time pinch the end and then pull the skin up and make a little cut then tear it off.
that was really excellent
perfect
Nice..
At the beginning is the quail BROKEN? Don't they normally pluck feathers before chop head off?
Excellent mate. Simpler than I thought it would be. I had Quail once at a nice Pub here. It was a really nice dish too. Quail with some juniper berrys for the sauce and some sort of Jue.. I think its called. Basically I think that's posh for gravy…LoL.
I assume also that if you've wormed them using Ivomec ( which I think we used for sheep when we were in W.A. I could be wrong but the name is very familiar) the with holding period before slaughter would be the same. Cheers for the Slaughter Trilogy… Might not make it Hollywood bud, but it worked for me. Cheers David
Here they pluck them.. Which I always thought was a lot of work,
I have a qual that pecks me all the time and I was thinking about through all of this video
Great video! Subbed! Please go check out my farming channel!
nice video , going quail hunting soon.
But you really didn't cover plucking. It also makes it seem like your done with the bird if someone skips to certain parts they miss that there is a pt.3 Someones going to cook and ungutted bird.
pull to remove soft feathers twist to remove stiff feathers
Pull out innards through cloaca do not pierce crop save the liver heart and gizzard
if you want remove uropygial gland
Then cook according to recipe
I plan to have chickens & Quail. I watched chickens plucked once, and I imagine I will want to use the cone method with Quail, hang them upside down, and cut the neck artery. Then, I want to scald the bird for easy plucking. I don't know if that is unrealistic. I like the skin on chicken.
What if I would like to eat it with the skin?
Great videos! I've been looking all over for this answer — how do you go about removing the organs without cutting it up the spine? I'm looking to stuff a few.
I would really like to see how to gut or eviscerate the quail as well as prepare for cooking. Please!
Just did my first. Thank you.
Quails looks strange by there feathers on there head
Is that a headless quail
The skin is the best part tho!..
