This is how to make crunchy banana chips similar to the store variety but without the chemicals and oils! I give some tips on dehydrating sliced banana in a food dehydrator to get the best results possible.
Also, here’s a popular article on my blog I wrote a few years back on how to make banana chips http://www.selfsufficientme.com/blog/view/422/banana_chips_with_a_food_dehydrator

You answered several questions for me. See, the chemically, fried, oily I think is what I have been after. I didn't know it was fried and chemically done. I thought that was just using the dehydrator, period. The ones at a little shop near Palm Springs has them and they are so good but, after having listened to you, I see now that they are fried. Not to mention I have only done this once and was quite let down that they were chewy and not what I was after. I bought the dehydrator for my daughter and she also was a bit let down because she was looking for the results of which I explained. Is there a way to come very close to crunchy, sweet and not so shrively using the dehydrator and not frying? I guess I would be asking for Apples too. Any ideas? Without saying "Just fry em!" lol
Ty making my 1st batch
Difficult to understand his words with heavy accent.
for those wanting to know how to make crunchy banana chips without waiting for 5 minutes, slice them thinly and use bananas that aren't too ripe.
What temp do you set the dehydrator?
Mmm I'm gonna dip my banana chips in powdered peanut butter and see how that tastes.
Hmmm the ones I got from store are very brittle and thick almost half an inch. Although Im in the industrial food dehydrator market I still dont know how to make these cripsy worthy of my cold beer… xD
Why does everyone who makes these videos say banana a million times and sound creepy a/f lol
We call it banana jerky and we store them in kids bellies
Why do store bought banana chips say dried if they are really not
Just a tip, if you can get an egg slicer from the dollar store, then you can have even pieces in less time.
Duuuude, it was driving me crazy how long it takes you to spit out a sentence, omg!! Speed it up!!
Can the bananas be a touch under ripe ???
Link in the description doesn't work, so here's a working one:

Um…I thought the store bought banana chips were freeze dried, is that not so?
Thank you! Very thoroughly explained!!
I don’t like banana chips too hard, I prefer them chewy!
I don’t need to know how to store them because they never last long enough to store!
Your blog post link comes up not found. Trying to find out what temp you dehydrate your bananas at.
Yummm now I want some
Banana chips
You didn't even tell us what temp to put the dehydrator at….
Thanks for the info! No fluff in you video, I love that 🙂
And never forget the Hultzer 571, a legendary banana slicer. Read the reviews on Amazon
excellent informative video
This is your future calling. You have ended up with a Freeze Dryer-that changes the Banana Chip GHame. You might do a Video on that method. 😀
Great video Mark! I was curious about making some banana chips for trail mix but never knew you had a video on this glad Ive been subbed for a while because I enjoy your videos new and old!!
Thanks for the share!
I use cornstarch instead of powdered sugar so they don’t stick together.
Hey Mark!
Was searching for a reason why my banana chips turned out like sticky leather and stumbled across this old vid of yours. Actually the very first result whoch is impressive. I look forward to trying out your methodology.
On a side note, i did stumble upon your chanel about 2018 and have been watching since. Have you tried a potato tower? I tried one last year, but i think i over crowded and way over watered it. Lost about 70% yield to rot, but still made out with 5 lbs in a 18"×36"×24 tall bed.
Thumbs up to you.
