  1. if only the gmo guys were just trying to make more ears grow on a stalk. (hey i have a great idea let's have the food we eat dna grow it's own pesticide & the roots excrete weed killer.) at least when it's sprayed on you didn't get a full dose in every bite.

  2. the Aztecs started with a plant called teosinte that looked closer to what wheat does today and by the time they were finished 10 thousand years later we have field corn.  The entire plant will dry up and the ears will make down turns. the ears will droop off the stalk and point downward.  The seeds wont be viable unless you allow the plant to finish the life cycle.  We are having a bunch of wind blown stalks this year.  That is due to heavy rainfall washing the nitrogen away from soil near the roots.  lack of adequate nitrogen reduces the plant integrity.   I live in the corn patch of Iowa.

  3. Great corn yield! I hope you can salvage it. You might want to start indoors next year even just by a window. I started a few dozen this past year in late March indoors and they were perfect seedlings, nice and small but not delicate, low maintenance,  and easy to transplant in May outdoors. I'll be starting over 100 this year in March again indoors.

You know I totally have the same philosophy as you in that you will learn just as much if not more by facing challenges than you will by success. In my experience this is true for relationships, life, gardening and poker.

  4. Totally agree with you!  The past 3 years have been a challenge for me, the weather as been so unpredictable!!! But even then, it's never a total failure, unless we do monocroping!
When your corn get's about 15 cm (6 in), you might want to heal them, like with potatoes but just ounce, so it can withstand the wind better.

  5. I don't what to say about your corn. I would try to straighten them up and keep an eye on them and get some seeds. You haven't failed at all you have learned much  from it . Trt and Try again. Prepare for the high winds . Next year will be better.
I liked what I saw and have subscribed immediately to your channel .
