By far the best information about compost.
My compost is in a black bin that i leave in the sun. It got unbalanced (I have too much nitrogen in it and it's really wet and the smell is vomit enducing). I have the lid open sitting in the sun so it can dry out a bit and I'm turning it every 20-30 mins or so. I think it's helping a bit but I'm not sure. Should I dumb it all out, turn it a bunch, and let it sit outside the bin until it gets better again? I also added more carbon materials so hopefully that helps.
Hi, I learned a lot from your video. I am encountering problems now in my composting, many insects now in it. Can I pour hot water to get rid of them? Please advice. Thank you.
Thanks for your useful information!
I've got a compost bin. I just put in grass, kitchen scraps, leaves but it doesn't break down. It's full at the moment but I need to turn it. How are I supposed to turn the material without taking it out from the bin?
I like to put my leaves in a trash can n use a weed Wacker to mulch them up. The difference from mulching them from just leaving them whole was huge. They broke down 90% from November to late April. This year I put them all in my compost bin n just mulched them in there to skip the trash can step.
ooo i like that double wood box layout you used here, i can turn one side into the other every once in a while and not worry about that pesky spontaneous combustion i was telling you about. that was just one of those things you hear fifteen or twenty years before and it just sticks with you forever for some odd reason. lol maybe its not as bad as it was made out to be.
Great video. Oddly when I searched for compost bin problems, a website came up first and the text there was word-for-word identical to your narration in your video. Either you found it too and read it outloud in the video, or someone has transcribed your audio and passing it off as their own. Either way it's really helped đ
You are very good teacher on compost. Compost making is my loveâ¤. I do work everyday with compost. Thank you.
What if i dry the garden grass and kitchen waste for 3 days before putting it into the compost bin?
The most straightforward fix your backyard compost video on the internet. Thanks
My compost heap is a slimy wet mess made up mostly of dead leaves
Can I add coal/briquette/timber ash to make it siveable?
great video
My city has free compost give aways in the spring. I suspect it's like that in lots of big cities. You can take as much as you need, and it gives you immediate compost as you wait for your's to mature if you are just starting.
I jus started a compost in a garbage can…& I already messed up by adding too much wet grass material.
Now I jus need to find dryer paper material to balance it all out
Yeah..Good info. I just got into doing this. Overall its going ok with a large amount of autumn leaves and grass. But when I dump a lot of freshly cut grass on top it smells. I try to stir it up after a couple days but I need to leave it on the side to dry up first.
Thank u so much. I desperately need solution for my soggy compost n i got your video. I will try adding cardboard pieces to fix my problem.
Nice information. thanks for sharing. love from pakistan
He makes it look so easy
I started a compost bin last week, and it's steaming already. I noticed a floral smell to it when I turned the pile today. I don't know what the temp inside the pile was, but it was def steaming. Should I be concerned about the floralish bouquet? I began with 70 KG of chopped dry Silver Maple (Acer) leaves; cow manure; coffee grounds; red wigglers; baked, ground, egg shells; human urine (my own-for the nitrogen); ten chopped up banana peels and rotted vegetables (chopped). It was rained on, about an inch; and I dampened it really well two days ago.
