Good info, but the Chantecler depicted wasn't bred in Canada. The original Chantecler from Ontario is pure white. The bird in the photo is a Buff Chantecler, which was bred by Walter Franklin in Pennsylvania decades later. Still a good cold weather bird, but word is that the whites are superior in terms of hardiness.
Why won't three of my 22 week old girls not get on the roost at night? They sleep in a pile in the corner.The other 13 took to the roost bars no problem. There is enough room, two bars are empty.
