Second year with your small pod. I wish I had heard Pat's comment on Biochar for the fluid separation the first time I watched the video – since I produce biochar. I will have to try next year. I love the Soldier Fly, great conversation starter when we have company.

Do you have to put dirt or something else in there or is it only larvae, and food. Building up from the plastic, then mesh, then food, then larvae. Do you put dirt on top?
