VIDEO: A few balcony gardening tips

Nothing on this video that I haven’t had on other videos. This is to consolidate a few things for my nephew and his wife who are now interested in starting a balcony garden. I hope all will watch and comment with their own suggestions that can help those who are beginning.

  1. when I grow in containers I like to have wheels on the bottom of the pots or shelving so I can "chase the sun" if I have to or when a hail storm is coming I can quickly roll them closer in and pivot them away from storm damage. On a balcony I would have some kind of water catchment to water with, the minerals in rain water are better for the plants.Just a reminder to new balcony gardeners these kind of plants need to be monitored for watering daily. I would grow lettuce , spinach, peas, radish, turnips in the shelving system and blueberry bushes in pots..I grow a lot of blue berries..don't forget bean sprouts can be grown in the kitchen

  2. Heya Jay
Really liked the stair design. Even might make something like that with ponics in it that cascades down, pump in the lowest part. One thing to realize is that if you put the pots on the outside of the balcony is that there will be less sun on the balcony itself. The good part of it is that you'll have more space on the balcony itself to walk & live on.
If you'd have the pots at the same hight as the balcony itself, (not at the hight of the railing) then you could also utilize the space on the balcony.
    Cheers !
