There are many ways to make Chicken Scratch. Traditionally, they are a 3-Grain mix should you buy a pre-mixed bag. I am going with a homemade “5 Grain Mix” this time round. You can add corn, oats, wheat, milo, barley, sunflower seeds, peas and so much more! Lots of choices. I am also adding my own supplements, too. It makes a great treat for all of your sweethearts! Enjoy and thanks for watching!

Looks phenomenal! Honestly, you could package and sell your homemade scratch and I bet you a lot of people would pay!
How much DE do you put in to how much feed? I'm using five gallon buckets when I mix feed. Would a cup of DE be too much or not enough?
What does the DE do?
Why the garlic powder?
Lmao……..on the cow!!!
Does this work as a hen crumbles too , or is it basically scratch?
mine wont eat oata unless its flat oats. i didn't know you could use powered garlic. thanks for info you are awesome
One of my biggest chicken pet peeves is when people feed chickens cracked corn!!!! IT HAS NO NUTRITIONAL VALUE!!!!!!
Ok
Ty
I wish there was a way to grow it outside year round, having it all late summer is great though
hey I work at a feed store and we make the best Gallo and scratch mix
try Oil sun flower chop corn Milo layer pallets and wheat
Just remember, there is another white DE, for pools, this is NOT the same, make sure it says food grade on it. Your chickens eat good, 🙂
Looks like a great mix. and costs less than the pre-made brand.
do we need to grind all these raw materials or just give them wholly and raw.
I just read that chicken scratch can be given to feed wild birds.
Cows love grains too or atleast my buffaloes do.
100 lbs corn to 25 lb oil sunflower. Done all the nutrient they need.
Mine are specially picky. They don't eat pearl millets which is widely used as chicken feed here. My hens demand something new every day. They will never eat same grain again on second day unless its cracked corn.
Great video what is you standard feed then
My grandmother grew sunflowers for her chickens. She cut them off when the heads drooped, stored them hanging in the barn.
Liked the video. However you never mentioned how much D.E. you put in. Would be nice to know. Thank you for the helpful info.
Where do you buy most of your grains?
Food grade DE says on the label to avoid breathing it in. I see people using it in their chickens dust bath and always wonder if that can be harmful for them to breathe. Have you had any issues like that?
Gotta say no to the unhulled sunflower .
Thank you very much. All the best in this crazy “ Alice In Wonderland “ world.
Can you assist me with ratios of your chicken scratch?
