  1. Hi 🙂 10-15 min is just right for watching it fast I think. Anything over 20 min I would save to a day when I have more time. Thanks for the videos!

  2. I don't make videos but watch many, love yours and the humorous way in which they are presented.  If the content is interesting I will watch a long video – even if I have to come back later with the 'continue watching' feature.  If it is boring or not of interest to me I skip, but I never really base this decision on the time stamp. All the best and keep them coming!

  3. I agree, and I like videos that are between 2- 10 mins. If I am watching a person I really like, but their video is really long (and I subscribe to quite a few of those), I skip along and only watch sections of it, scrolling back sometimes if something really interesting comes up, such as disasters, funny bits or something I might be really interested in.

  4. I like them around 20 mins the ones that are only a few mins I sometimes don't watch I just assume they carnt be much to watch for only a couple mins.i like to sit with my tablet when I'm having a brew or something to eat

  5. I tend to watch videos that are less than 15 minutes, as I have subbed to lot of allotment youtube guys, and when they go over that time, I have trouble watching them, as there are just too many of them. 5-10 minutes is perfect. God Bless and take care.

  6. I think that a vid between 5 and 15 minutes is enough to entertain and educate those people who are interested. Anything longer and its all about the presenter which is boring for the viewer. Also , consider the quality of the content. 5 minutes of high quality content is better than 15 minutes of mediocre content. You have proven to produce higher quality as far as I've seen thus far. Cheers!

  7. Hi Adam 10 – 15 min is a good size unless you got alot going on & they need to be longer but i tend to watch the longer ones after the shorter ones . a 30 min can always be split into 2 x 15 min vids of coarse . aslong as it is interesting it doesn't mater if it is a bit long

  8. I think 3 to 10 minutes is best. Up to 15 minutes is fine occasionally where you're into an extended topic.
Some people often go for over an hour. I think of them as being on an ego-trip and quickly remove my subscription to their channel. They often have great info – but could have said it in 15 minutes or (much) less.
I'd say you are right on target with your vids. :-))

  9. Lovely update thank you for sharing i some times watch halfway though then leave feed back depending what i doing in some case just watch while doing some thing eles like making coffee

  10. Personally I prefer videos 10 minutes or less. Do watch some longer ones and I do skip around on some of the longer ones. If the content is really good I will watch it completely. That seldom happens. Best wishes Bob.

  11. Hi Adam. Anything over 30 minutes is too long, and would be better made into two or three shorter ones. Up to 20 minutes is fine if there is sold content. Otherwise, 5 to 10 minutes is best, especially with the increasing number of interesting vloggers. Cheers

  12. Hey Adam, lenght of content is a question that always comes up on all platforms – When I first started blogging it was a huge deal with some saying the perfect post was no more than 250 words because people don't have time to read in the "modern world" and others swearing that an article should be at least 1000 for SEO purposes and flesh on the bones. Five years later, and I've written hundreds of posts/articles with both small and large (some even 5000 words +) with about an even split between them on viewership meaning the length had nothing to do with it! But how does this equate to videos? It's identical IMHO because if the consumer is finding the information/content relevant or entertaining they will watch it and if they don't have time then they will defer and watch it when they have a better opportunity. If they are "sort of" interested but not overly then they might skip through the video but that is still a VIEW and may not necessarily mean it's a bad video or too long. For example, John's channel from GrowingYourGreens has 300k+ subs and most of his videos are over 45mins. I'd be surprised if everyone who watches his videos goes the whole distance, however, he's a very successful YT content creator. Personally, the feedback I have gotten from my own subscribers is mixed: some like the short videos, some like the longer vids, and others don't care. The other day, a lady sent me a message saying her husband creates a playlist of my videos and casts them on their big screen smart TV watching several hours at a time (imagine several hours of ME – now that would be awful…lol) but my point is time doesn't matter because if the viewer likes the content and finds it entertaining (for them) then they will watch it. I'm not saying I don't care about the time because I DO consider it and try (my amateur best) to edit out too much waffle and get the time down on all my vids. At the end of the day, my advice (if I may) is be true to yourself and make videos you enjoy both in time and content with perhaps a mix of short, medium, and long if you really are still concerned about it and then everyone can be happy. Final point – this thing about society being too busy is a myth… even Twitter is getting longer… 😉

  13. Hi Adam, I have the same philosophy, I know very quickly if I am bored with a video and switch off or over to another. This time of year is a busy time but even then I am always on catch up with the channels I subscribe to, Editing videos is time consuming so I aim to do a video every two weeks with a target no greater than 10 min's. To which I fail. There is always more content then I need and there is always continuity shots to add. Playing and listening to music is important to me and I practice for at least one hour a day which If I go into one can be timeless. Cheers Mike B

  14. Like I said on FB.  Content.  Don't drag a five minute vid out to 25 minutes and you're fine.  I love the "other than gardening" vids also.  The walk up that hill for the view.  The cave homes.  That trip to the Estate.  I really get into things like that.  You keep doing what you're doing.  We'll let you know if we think you're goofing off…lmao  Cheers Bud…

  15. This is a tricky one for me because I watch YouTube video's as programmes, I very rarely watch TV. With videos I enjoy I like to sit down and watch properly and find that about 25mins of good quality video is my favourite. But I wouldn't watch 25mins of something that is quite boring. I tend not to watch very short videos unless it is someone who I know makes good content as it just means I have to then choose something else to watch sooner and can't just settle down for a bit. We should probably make our videos shorted but there is two of us haha! It seems like people can't do anything for over ten minutes nowadays. I like to chill 😉

  16. Hi Adam, I am the total opposite, I tend to watch the longer ones first, but then I rarely watch TV and I don't work. I find if the content is informative, I will watch it for longer or if it's from a channel I enjoy watching, I will watch all the way through.
I hope that mine are as informative as they can be, I know some of them have run into nearly half an hour.
All the best, Tina & Jason.

  17. Hi Adam, I like 10 to 15 mins of video, but it depends on the channels. Some people I wish would be longer, I go through all the ones I like to watch and then a new person maybe. Some people I just love their personalities. I think one of the most interesting things was when you all answered the get to know you videos. Maureen ps was from Peterborough but live in Las Vegas. It was 47.5 with very dry hot wind here but my tomatoes and peppers are doing great. As long as they get watered they are happy so watering four times a day.

  18. to watch or not to watch that is the question !! 10 minutes is a good time for a video I try to keep two but allow 5mins past so up to 15 mins or I get bored and decided to move on

  19. Anything from 4-10 minutes do I can quickly watch in my lunch breaks etc great question though I don't watch some if the vids such as weaste allotments simply because they 40 plus minutes long

  20. You're a good storyteller and your judgement on video duration for a given message is usually about right. Your editing style is tight, and there is rarely any excess 'fat' in your vlogs. I rate your content at the high end of the quality scale (for allotment videos, anyway).
If I were to be so brazen as to suggest anything, it would be this: consider if and how closed captioning fits in to your work.

Closed captions really help those with hearing impairment, and also open up the possibility for foreign language translation.
Closed caption transcripts are laborious to produce, but if your vlogs are sufficiently short (10-15 mins max) you may find people (e.g., me) offering to caption and/or translate your videos for free (think: Amara ).

My 2 cents. Keep up the great work mate.
