  1. Thanks Huw! I've got some Greek Gigantes that are growing like crazy, setting lots of flowers, and not a single pod has formed. Other beans (Burgundy bush, and provider) are growing also and setting plenty of beans. Thoughts on why some beans would have no issue and these might? They're all growing in the same medium, get the same amount of sun and water.

  2. Fresh fava beans are eaten whole, bean and pod. Yet waiting for a video that shows that. Fava beans have been popular in North Africa for thousands of years and are an important part of the food there.

  3. Thanks for sharing this information on Broad beans, didn't know they're name in english until today, here in Mexico we call them 'Habas', also didn't know they could be eatened fresh, just harvested from the plant, here Broad bean soup is very popular during Lent and other times of the year as well, but nobody in my family would pass up a nice, steaming hot bowl of Broad bean soup! Thumbs up and greetings from Mexico! 🙂

  4. It looks like you don't stake them. Mine are about 2 ft high, and while most are fine, some are falling over. Does it matter? Should I stake the ones that are floppy? I'm also wondering how long it will take for them to fully mature and produce pods. I'd read I could interplant okra with peas and favas, as they will finish before the Okra gets big. I am in zone 7 in Virginia, I direct sowed on March 27th.Thanks a bunch!

  5. Thanks Hew
I planted broad beans in the greenhouse and now they are big and full of flowers. Are they alright to put outside in this state? I’m worried they won’t pollinate where they are. I’m in West Yorkshire.
    Thanks for all your help.

  6. I watched a couple of videos on broad beans, but none explained what to do after the harvest. Do we dig out the plants? Or leave them? will they produce more?
