Well Patera, I just told my grand daughter i needed a good hatchet. And that trowel is to die for.
I love the egg song in the back ground!! Those busy girls are just wanting all the attention! 🙂 Neat boxes, would love to try them out.
I'm just starting to look for land. I think this would be the perfect way to start investing in this venture. Thank you so much for the review. I will definitely be looking into this.
are you getting the classic or the pioneer box? Thanks for sharing this
Patara, you gave a wonderful review of a wonderful product and James said exactly what I was realizing about this company. It gives a person back their faith in quality and integrity and full value for the money.
Now how cool is that?! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Just because we are women doesn't mean we don't need to know the same skills as the guys. I am a better mechanic than some of my male friends.
Wow, great boxes! I was wondering if you had any advice of where a person with best locate a chicken pen. We live on 4 acres, half is wooded and in the process of clearing more area. We have lots of predators in our area like coyotes, foxes, Large owls and birds of prey like eagles. I have a large chain-link dog enclosure pen that I plan to use as the chicken run and build a small chicken house either inside or outside the chicken run. I have been contemplating if I should run electric shock wire to keep predators out. Any advice would be wonderful! I appreciate you so much!!!
I'm looking at the Homestead Iron site right now. This is the third review on the box I've seen. But, just had time to sit down and look up that company that offers those quality tools. I'm gettin me a dandelion digger!!!! Yes ma'am! I eat the greens and dry the root for tea right from my yard. I have broken countless tools like this "dandelion digger" in the last few years. I lost count. Theirs looks promising! It's so wonderful that they are hand made and from a homesteader and small business person. It's win win all the way around!!
now you can add a new class to the school…that looks like a awesome axe…
Great video.
I bet it felt kinda like Christmas.
Oh my word. I would LOVE to garden with that homestead iron! Thanks for all the info. I need to check them out.
OMG I have 8 of his garden tools!!! He's at Baker's Creek spring festival each year. you'll love
his tools!
super cool!
What a beautiful kit and an amazing idea! A great way to bring back the skills many of our families have lost over the decades to the "convenience" of modern living. All the instant gratification that technology has brought to so many of us has in fact robbed us of the skills to do without it. Schools no longer teach proper home ec classes (if they teach them at all) and they have totally dropped any class that used to teach students how to balance a checkbook or how to manage their money once they get a job unless they are taking accounting classes in college. It is great to see something like this that is opening our eyes to what we could do for ourselves, no matter who we are or where we are. So many of these skills can come in handy to ANYONE in the world.
The fine mist nozzle is a great help when doing very young seedlings. It will not lay the young plants over like the watering wand using the water break end. The water break end is great on the wand as it keeps from washing the more mature plant out of the ground or destroying blooms. Both are great to have with starting plants. Great box! Huggs and Blessings
Cool handy stuff!
To anyone interested in starting seeds but not buying this box, I had incredible beginners luck making seed pots out of newspaper (rolling newspaper around a can) and using a regular heating pad. You just have to make sure it's not the type that turns off automatically, or if it does remember to switch it back on! I sat the seed pots in shallow dish pans, placed over three heating pads (covers off) and covered them with loosely with Saran Wrap near a window. I've used this method for four years and it's worked every single time.
What a cool kit.
Thanks for the information. This is great!! If you start investing in these boxes before you get to a homestead, you are that much ahead of the game. Peace and blessings.
Never to old to learn something new.
That was a great review. The box is a wonderful thing. Do they deliver to Canada as well? I loved the first box. I wish I could have had that one. As a woman who worked years as a boilermaker welder, I always told many people. There are no women's jobs or men's jobs, just jobs. We need to just learn skills and not think of them having genders attached to them. You may find something you just love and never would have known it. My Dad was the best cook in the house when we were growing up.
Patara, your frankness is inspiring, appreciated, and has helped this homesteader-in-the-making not feel so intimidated by what I don't know. Thank you! <3
This is definitely going on my wish list!
Love you sister! These videos are amazing!
