  1. Luke, I have a really stupid question. How to keep the cup in place? Won't it just blow away? (And even if I put rocks in it or something I am sure my neighbors dog will just knock it over … We don't have fences.)

  2. In addition to greens and herbs, hothouse cucumbers do very well in shady areas. My garden space is surrounded by tall trees, but I am still able to grow fruiting plants like peppers, green beans and squash… If all you have available is sub-optimum then give it a go anyway on a small scale. Maybe a few containers with hot peppers. You may be pleasantly surprised. If you are in darkness all the time, consider mushrooms.

  3. were my garden is located it gets early morning sun into the afternoon but around 3pm or so depending on time of year shade starts creeping across the garden by 4-4:30pm the garden is completely shaded but it was really the best location i had in my small city lot.

  4. I remember a video last year with you talking about growing a ancient grain. I think it was millet but not 100% sure. I was wondering if with the new property we would see one of these new raised beds dedicated to this? I was reminded of your ancient grain episode today when I watched a new documentary on netflix called sustainable. It was a pretty interesting watch.

  5. I'm an advanced gardener but I still like watching your videos! I love the "bite size pieces"! :0) I always recommend your channel to people that I teach to grow indoors or outdoors. I will def be recommending these videos.

  6. THanks guys! Nice to see you are North. Being in PA…I didnt think there was much I can do. Maybe there is more than I think. All my yard is hill though. Hope that isnt a problem.

  7. so
6.5 hours of sunlight in the spring
10 hours in the peak of summer

but if I get 4 instead of 10 at peak season I should grow lettuce?
and If I get something in between? So confusing.

  8. I've been watching these videos with my two girls (ages 5 and 3) and the 5 year old said that she wants to have her own garden. I was so happy! Then she said she wanted a garden so she could grow a "love tree" to send love to her Nana. 🙂 It was cute.

  9. this is helpful. I am a beginner. am concerned about the amount of sun in my yard and was needing to know what to grow with little sun. thank you. greens/lettuce! love you Luke and Cindy!!

  10. Does the direction of the sun determine the way the bed faces. Eg, can you have a long way bed in same direction as sun, or is it best to be width ways? I understand taller plants further away so don’t shade out the others

  11. Man I learned this the hard way the first time I set up a raised bed. I put it in, planted some stuff, then all the trees' leaves grew in and there was hardly any sun on my garden.
