Really enjoyed the Q&A. Looking forward to what the summer brings.
Excellent video! And "yes!" about socializing. My boys socialize more now that we homeschool than when they were in school. That is one question I'm tired of answering.
I learned so much from your videos. Thank you!
I'm slowly learning here. 🙂
My question is how do you prevent inbreeding when you add the new chicks/hens back in the flock?
Hah! I have the same pillows! And I live in eastern TN. Much be a Appalachia thing lol
I've been watching your channel for awhile and I just love you. I love your honesty and energy. I'm a homeschooling mom of 6 kids. We are slowly learning skills. I'm always encouraged when you talk about starting slow. My husband grew up on a self sufficient farm, but I'm a city girl. Lol. I did homeschool, so I'm good at finding the info and taking action but this is new for me. I have learned to cook and bake from scratch. I'm learning gardening and canning this year. (My mom does this, I just never learned, so she's teaching me) my kids want chicken, but I'm not ready for that. I just wanted to say thank you.
I agree on the Golden comets being the best starter laying hen, i started with 2 comets, 2 RIRs, 2 Plymouth rocks and 2 NH reds. The comets are my favorites they always come to greet me and they are such good layers
Hey – it's your neighbor from down Knoxville way! 🙂 I enjoyed your Q&A and am soooo looking forward to the conference! I would love to be a homesteader or even hobby farmer, but the reality of my life right now is that I'm a gardener, herbalist, and forager. I do what I can with what I have. Thank you for sharing your journey here on YouTube. Your channel helps me live out my farming fantasies 🙂
Great info!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Have a good evening!!!
Thank you so much for using a mic. It was much easier to hear you. Love your videos!
"People don't like to hear A LOT of stuff!" LOL … truth!
I just saw a video of a brahma rooster in Kosovo that's almost 4 feet tall.
I totally agree on the quail still have mine but they are not pulling their weight great video.counting the days to may 6th .God bless~~~
Great info but, just curious is that chicken math? 8 chickens..lol..I'm not sure I believe that. Hahaha!
I cannot wait!!!!! The suspense is killing me!!
We got red sex links this year. Have not had them before. But we do love our Golden Comet. We also got tetra tint.
I really appreciate all the wonderful videos that you take the time to make. Thank you
Wow, you finished this video out with a bang giving advice on the difference between big and bold farming and hobby farming. Love you and your energy so much. Thanks for all you do <3
I have a question, can you talk about Silkie roosters vs your other Roosters?
Black Australorp…my fav. IMO.
Patara, or anyone else, I've heard mention not to buy cheap fencing. Could yall give some brand names that are good and ones from which to stay away?
Hi Patara. Do you guys have an itinerary schedule for the homesteading conference yet? I know a while back you said you were working on class times
8 chickens…you are hilarious. Thanks for the wonderful advice.
I think it works better if one has an extended family situation. Then there is sharing of jobs and things that some can do that others can't.
You buy fertilized eggs and incubate them if you can't have a rooster, but you want to develop that skill set, or if you have a broody hen.
I agree with the golden comet for a starter hen for egg laying. Great video! Great information!
awesome down to earth talk, thank you so much , God Bless you and yours 🙂
