VIDEO: Pick and regrow salad leaves through winter – 2 kg / 4.5 lb from three trays, 18 plants

You can replicate this method outdoors in summer, say in window boxes. This shows winter harvests in an unheated, unlit greenhouse zone 8/9, frosts to -5C/22F. Reusable trays lined with paper, filled with multipurpose compost, no feeds or fertilisers. Just 6 plants in each tray, many types, and my special picking method for the lettuce. 1. Do you save all discarded bits for compost? I have a compost bin that came with the house I bought. It’s a round suspended bin that turns with a handle so I hope it works & will try it next year. Those lettuce leaves look like they’re going to make a delicious salad!!

  2. Do you recommend winter density for winter cropping? I seem to remember you mentioning it in one of your videos but I've forgotten sorry

  3. Just catching up on some of your older videos and wondered if this would work in a polytunnel over winter. Mine was empty for months last year and it seems such a waste of space. Many thanks..

  4. One great use I've found for coriander is in salsa fresca.
The salsa dds a zip to many meals (I put 80g in a 4 egg omelette with 30g cheese for lunch).
Great chopped over curries & dahls too.

  5. I love all your videos. Please can you start putting the name of the seeds in your videos in the description as I want to grow what your growing. I’m sure many other home gardeners like me don’t know what variety to start off with. Thanks

  6. I harvest every few days when I cut the tops off making sure not to cut the inner crown.. the smaller leaves underneath emerge quick.

  7. Me watching this March 11th in some 4 freezing ti death looking at my garden coverered in literally several feet of snow (not an exaggeration) we’ve had an amazing snow year here it’s been years since we’ve had so much moisture. It gets better every year
