You can replicate this method outdoors in summer, say in window boxes. This shows winter harvests in an unheated, unlit greenhouse zone 8/9, frosts to -5C/22F. Reusable trays lined with paper, filled with multipurpose compost, no feeds or fertilisers. Just 6 plants in each tray, many types, and my special picking method for the lettuce. That salad rocket looks a little like dandelion shaped leaves? Going to go check out that plant
Do you save all discarded bits for compost? I have a compost bin that came with the house I bought. It’s a round suspended bin that turns with a handle so I hope it works & will try it next year. Those lettuce leaves look like they’re going to make a delicious salad!!
I can lay my hands on trays like these so will start growing these like this. Thanks Charles
Charles, would you say that the Grenoble Red is one of the hardiest lettuces to grow outdoors in cold weather? Any others that you would recommend?
What variety is the lettuce?
Where can I get those baskets your growing in ?
In my next life I want be come back as one of Charles Dowdings plants.
Do you recommend winter density for winter cropping? I seem to remember you mentioning it in one of your videos but I've forgotten sorry
Bellezas y esquisites
The only thing missing was showing the trays being set up.
This is awesomeee MaashaAllah love this chanel alot and i already read one of your book sir.. greeting from Indonesia
Hello Charles, what is de variety of your lettuce? It"s amazing how you well organized everything
Orden limpieza diciplina .amor a su tierra es unico….
When do you reseed for continuous harvest?
Have been trying to find a US source on the trays used for the lettuce.
Love your videos! Do you line the plastic boxes with newspaper?
Did you start these under lights.
Just catching up on some of your older videos and wondered if this would work in a polytunnel over winter. Mine was empty for months last year and it seems such a waste of space. Many thanks..
One great use I've found for coriander is in salsa fresca.
The salsa dds a zip to many meals (I put 80g in a 4 egg omelette with 30g cheese for lunch).
Great chopped over curries & dahls too.
How often did you water?
I love all your videos. Please can you start putting the name of the seeds in your videos in the description as I want to grow what your growing. I’m sure many other home gardeners like me don’t know what variety to start off with. Thanks
I harvest every few days when I cut the tops off making sure not to cut the inner crown.. the smaller leaves underneath emerge quick.
Do you pick all the leaves off one or two plants, or a few off all of them?? Thanks
I have heard that lettuce becomes more bitter over time and the more that you pick it. I would appreciate your comments on this, thank you.
Me watching this March 11th in some 4 freezing ti death looking at my garden coverered in literally several feet of snow (not an exaggeration) we’ve had an amazing snow year here it’s been years since we’ve had so much moisture. It gets better every year
