  1. does anyone no the job title of someone that sales these beneficial insects? or what kind of business I should be looking up? I'm finding it so hard in Australia to find anything for small scale farming haha

  2. would you consider using another nematode called encarsia formosa its a very small version of a yellow jacket (wasp) they are unfertile so can't reproduce and die after a certain length of time. they are used extensively here in Europe in polyhouses and glasshouses for the control of aphids.

  3. Hi Curtis, a bit off topic but do you know anyone biointensively growing blackberries or raspberries, like you grow tomatoes? i would love to learn more about it if you know anyone.
    thanks man.

  4. Ladybugs are omnivorous so they would likely benefit from having a few types of flowers around for pollen and nectar. Buying new bugs is cheap but putting a few hanging baskets of flowers in the greenhouse would be even cheaper!

  5. Hi Curtis, I turn on the misters to first soak the plants & release the ladybugs after sunset. If the weather stays cool & cloudy for a week or so I've then had mating & egg laying followed by lots of ladybug larva appearing & they're real chow hounds eating lots of aphids repeating the cycle. When the weather turns sunny & hot the adults fly off so I'm going to try the netting which will also limit bugs like thrips & aphids gaining entrance in the first place. Thanks for the netting source! Bill

  6. For pollinating greenhouse tomatoes in the 80's we used a vibrating wand. One could pollinate 1600 plants in about 2.5 hours by touching the flowering trusses lightly (not the flowers). This was particularly effective at releasing the pollen on sunny afternoons and would be done about every third day at their peak growing period. This was to ensure even pollination which produced larger well rounded fruit. They looked something like this Chinese sourced product. Battery pack attaches to a waist belt.

  7. Much like your greenhouse im having issues with pests since I live in north Florida and none of the pest especially soil born insects ever die off. I need to build a year around ladybug nest. key to Florida is crop rotation and cover crops. its only way to deal with bugs effectively. if I grow tomatoes in same place as year before they do horrible so…..just thought id share

  8. Great vid. We have that lack of dormancy issue here. Winters have been very light in the UK, so the aphid populations get going early on. I MUST get around to buy some ladybirds to tackle my issue. Can net the window and also have some drop fabric across the door. Thanks for the idea!

  9. If people have issues with pollinating toms or any other fruit setting plant, just use a small soft brush like a make up brush and do it yourself, just takes a second and guarantees pollination.

  10. Curtis, do you inflate your rollup sidewall when you have it rolled down? I am building mine now, but not sure which is the best option. Also, do you ever drop your roll bar below the chanellock on the ground and wiggle wire it down?

  11. Do you greenhouse can keep locusts away? In africa people have problem with locusts eating their crops. But it doesnt seem anyone know the benefits of greenhouse.
