Pretty ingenious setup you created there Lea and Al! (I hope I got that right). I have a question, what is the goal of Homesteading for you? To save money? To lessen your impact on the environment? To retire earlier? Just to get back to nature? It all looks like a lot of work, so if you are still working, this would take all your free time, so I guess it would have to be a way of life! How long have you been doing this? What made you decide to do this? Sorry if you have already answered all these questions, but I was just curious.

Is there a update on how they are doing?
Have you thought about growing lettuce or some sort of vegetables in the water instead of the flowers? You could have you a little hydroponic garden there. Y'all have some really good content. Lots of great ideas. Yall have a lot of nice things going on.
You should have plants in the filters all year long. During the cold season you can use cold weather plants. water lettuce, water hyacin, and cool weather lilles usually work. The Impatiens ate cool for the spring and summer.
