VIDEO: Introducing a New Chicken to Our Flock
We got a new chick the Thursday before Easter. This video shows how we have attempted to introduce her to the rest of the girls.
Great story on the new chicks. We got our first chicken when one of the kids got brought it home from school. Good luck with the transition outside
Wyandotte? she looks like your big girls. Put her on the roost with them at night? Im afraid they wont accept her. Yeah, you're her momma. Cool fence trick! So sorry about the one that didnt make it. I love to watch chickens. Awesome.
Very comprehensive update! It was nice to see what happened from early on till now. Sorry you lost the other one, but hey, they were going to be put down anyway, so you gave it another few days of life. Very glad to see that your girl is healthy, I hope she will eventually be accepted by the others…..I think it will happen, but there is a definite "pecking order"….pun completely intended!!!
Awe you need to paint her Claw tips & put a scarf on her & have her be called Ms. Henrietta… Yessss! lol from Long horn cartoon back in the day… So cute..
I thought you were going to keep her in the house as a pet. Best wishes Bob.
So sweet you have gone to so much effort for this little chicken.I think that running off, attacking the new kid, must be the instinct to protect the flock.
Lol!This just made me think of children.I've noticed that at a certain age,the youngest in the family wants to boss the family pet around!
Best of luck getting the other hens to accept her.
Hard on a bird when you when you add just one new one to the flock.
Cool on the escape hole!! Hopefully she was just checking out the new roost.
Have a good'nnn
This brought back memories of my childhood. I would love to have a flock of my own one day.
Two lucky chicks.
I love Dominique they are one of our favorites thanks for sharing God Bless Y'all
Chick sure is spunky!
Awww she's adorable, so nice of you to rescue her. I don't have chickens so can't give you any advice on how to have them get alone with each other.
I hope she had an easy transition into the flock!! I'm also sorry to hear that the other bird didn't make it. Thanks for sharing and stay well!! ~Nika
