I'll never grow without it either. I have raised beds with no mulch and I have to water them every other day.
Starting seedlings in wood chips is something I gotta learn. That seedling zone is within the layer you cleared off to get down to the good stuff.
putting out some good content always U tha man
Your new video format is addicting! James, keep it up brother! You are cruising!
Great tip. Do you inoculate the wood chips with mycelium ? ?

Establishing a mulch that is continuously breaking down is the ultimate. Have a wonderful day
Great video! I'm excited about all the wood chips I'm going to have when our cottonwoods come down. I love your food forest because it helps me visualize what's going to happen in my space. Keep up the great work!
How much mulch do you put on every year?
Where are you located? Beautiful forest btw
u rock dude
Beautiful food forest and excellent video, James!
Hi, I think I will adopt your method because it's been a hustle to water my plants. Spring time here is getting dryer and dryer every year. What kind of wood chips are you using?
Where do you get so many wood chips
thank you for the concise and simple information provided. To tell the truth I am not that a bigger fan of camera switching and angles but I like your style of talking 😀
Did you put newspaper or cardboard down first?
Can you address the concern I've heard some people voice concerning the "Nitrogen-stealing" effect of adding wood chips to soil? Also, do you have tips on where to get such large quantities of mulch? Finally, do you know if some types of wood are better than others?
Did you add any rock dust or volcanic minerals? Or is your fertility totally based on wood chips? Do you use Effective Microorganisms or formally brewed compost tea? (Of course, the rain coming through the wood chips is compost tea.) Did you innoculate the plants with mycorrhizal fungi? You are really getting results and it would mean a lot to me to know whether you did it all with the wood chips….. I would love for it to be that simple.
Love me some mulch. I’ve used leaves and dead grass clippings in past as I can’t seem to find any cheap wood chip sources but I won’t stop looking!!
Thank you. Great info. Do you ever add compost?
i need to get me some mulch…
Are wood chips and wood shavings the same?
Hey James, would wood chips still work in an area where termites are an issue?
