  1. My beets last year, in a new garden, did virtually NOTHING (same with all my other root crops). Huge leaves, pea size beets (if at all). Idk why, because that garden has huge amounts of nitrogen (I think, there are so many nitrogen indicators in that field, which was a fallow hay field…does that make a difference?) but such little phosphorus (I think). And completely full sun. So it makes zero sense as to why none of my root chops succeeded. Truthfully the onions did decently, they were basically non maintenance. Carrots Did literally nothing, potatoes were pathetic. I am trying a different area of the property this year for these, it is a little more sandy and I have no idea of it's nutrient content. We will see what happens but could you help???

  2. How do you let the Detroit beets go to seed? And in zone 6 when is best time to plant, I have always been told that heat makes beets stringy and effects flavor is that true?

  3. Your baby is just too cute. Thank you for the harvest beet. I am growing beets for the first time. I am doing seeds also I cant wait to see the growth.

  4. Hello in your video you said you were going to Pickle the beetroot Would you be so kind to tell me the recipe. As I am new to growing veg

    Thank you

    Jack

  5. I'm glad you mentioned eating the tops as well. A lot of people are under the impression that you throw them but I've eaten them always as boiled or sotee them. They're my favorite part of the beet.
