New to HuwsNursery? 🙂
My name is Huw Richards, I live in Wales, UK and I am a teenager who loves vegetable gardening. Unusual right? I love to teach people around the world about growing their own food organically and my end goal is to get as many children as possible to have the experience of growing food which I believe is one of the most important things a child could learn. If you’re new to HuwsNursery then please hit that subscribe button (and also notifications) so you can learn more about growing your own food inexpensively 🙂

Great video on a great subject, mulch, also great for trees, (we have a new video on mulching trees).
Excellent
Useful information.
Great info. Thanx
do you grow watermelons? I would love to see those
Another great video – thanks!
Thanks for the informative video. Your garden is inspiring.
Great Video 🙂
do snakes or rodents get into your thick hay mulch and make nests?
.Great Video! Lots of Education & Common Sense!
I don't have access to lots of Compost but, what I do have is an excess amount of Plantain leaves. I've Harvested all of the leaves I will use for the next 40 years, LOL! So I've been mulching with the Plantain leaves and it works great! They break down completely fairly quickly, and the Earthworms seem to Love them!
Thanks Much & Have Fun!
Do you find mulching more encourages slug or snail populations?
How does pinching the top of the plant off help with black flies? Does this method also work for other insects?
Hi Huw – a great way of controlling weeds. Thanks for sharing. Take care. Nick
Another good video Huw. Get tonnes online rehashing the same info but this is a new take on mulching. nice one 🙂
Today, on Mulch Nursery, we mulch.
Hi Huw, great to meet you at the weekend. I look forward to watching some of your vids.
I pinched off the tops of my blackfly-infested broad beans, and still lost the lot !!
Great video. I am glad to see great direct to the point informational tips. Your garden looks great and your tips are helpful. Thanks
Nice video – loved that I can just mulch over and smother weeds rather then pulling and covering. Do you have one video where you show the entire garden and just mention what is planted in each and how many this feeds or an idea because I understand you succession plant in places as they become available. (I apologize if I have asked before, just trying to plan a whole new garden 🙂
You're great in front of the camera and deliver good, useful content…Keep up the great work!
My garden center sells cedar bark mulch. Is hay better for my flower garden?
Great idea simple and effective.
Hey Huw, love the videos. What kind of manure are you spreading on the beds and how many inches deep for overwintering? I've seen really good results with layering sheet composting, no dig. I'm also doing back to Eden woodchip gardening and getting really magical results here in N. Idaho U.S. Can't wait till you try the woodchips. Thanks for all the great videos!
Wood chips are wonderful so is Patrick’s channel. I like using hay too to hold the moisture here in our hot arid desert in Las Vegas ☀️
Thank you gorgeous ; )
I mulch in the fall like all the trees in the forest do!
Totally agree with the mulch for the weeds but your weeds were nettles and common chickweed, both of those are edible so if you run out of mulch don’t worry, just eat them :p
Hay has seeds. Isn't that a big problem?!
