VIDEO: Automatic Birdfeeder (made from dog food dispenser)

As some of you will recall, Paula and I were recently away from the homestead for about a week and in hopes of keeping our feathered (any fury) friends fed in our absence, we decided to create an inexpensive DIY automatic birdfeeder. Check it out!

  1. What a great idea! Creative inventing… reminds me of the Giant Leaf Catcher Bag Project! We really love your videos. Wonderful shot of all the furred and feathered folks enjoying the bounty on your deck. Bless you guys for being some of the few creators on social media who respect our non-human neighbors and demonstrate ways to live without harming them. To see you release a mouse could be a revelation to someone who knows only the narrow thinking of our annihilative culture. So glad you had some kayaking fun!

  2. It's great seeing your perspective on local wildlife. There are so many who don't understand the vacuum effect. You may want to add some edible diatomaceous earth to prevent unwanted bugs from infesting the seeds. In certain times of the year my feeders can get infested with grain Weevils overnight.

  3. I agree so much with what you say, every creature has its place in this world, wasps feed destroying caterpillars to their babies, bees may drink some of your sugar water but they pollinate your potatoes, cucumbers, etc., deer are sooooo cute and soothing to me, the whole point is distract or deter what you dont want, attract what you do

  4. i remember when i was growing up…loooong time ago …farmers (s0me) used to plant a "garden" for the critters all the critters and they used to talk to them..telling mother nature and the animals that the "garden" were for them…and the fruits and vegetables was all for them…but not to bother the real garden and it worked….so u may try that…not a tinny "garden" but a good size place for them to feed…
