  1. I was concerned not hearing from you, Mark. Glad to hear the reason being you were busy making $$$. Thanks for the lesson today…I constantly need your reminders. Thanks. PS: How is your late summer cro of sunflowers doing?

  2. Welcome back.
I have given lots of thought to your expositions about growing soil, particularly in sowing winter rye together with new zealand white clover.
    Rye is a grass.
I'm reminded of the great plains, grasslands, of the 18th century, and their deep fertility when they were first put to the plow. Because of lack of biological understanding, millions of years of soil biology were undone resulting in the The Dust Bowl 1935-1940.

  3. Hi Mark, welcome back, I missed hearing from you, but glad your having a bountiful harvest. You've earned it! When will you plant your winters covers, or have you already begun? Are you thinking of trying any new species? Thanks.

  4. ive got some purple perennials that bloomed every year by late august. last year they got beat up by painters but they came back from the old roots. this year they are not blooming right its like some do and some bud and dont flower and some are just green stalks. you think its the soil or just that they got messed up last year? I kinda want them around to feed bees.

  5. Mark I live in south NJ in the heart of the Pine Barrens Started a garden last year amended the soil with horse manure, composted leaf matter and then a layer of straw for mulch. I have plenty of sand but no clay. At least not on the top 4 feet . My gardened did great but think it will do better next year as my soil continuing to build. Would you recommend adding rock dust in my case.. Thanks Jim

  6. Hi Mark from my understanding you said it needed sand silt and clay in order to make soil, if that is the case I have no clay and so no use trying to build soil as all I have is sand and compost???
