VIDEO: Snake & Dragons Plus Chipping & Feeding Quail Chickens Ducks

Another busy week and one of the signs that spring is here is our first encounter with a snake this season! Also, we chat about mulberry growing, chipping, pruning fruit trees and more.

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started SSM in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

  1. Wow, you're handling snakes and I see one of your kids is happily barefoot amongst sharp twigs – living dangerously seems to run in your family 🙂

  2. That snake was definitely sick, probably had a bad meal. lots of people I know would just kill them but i love them and im very happy to see them just moved out of the way. I love your channel, the gardening and the quail are what im here for! 🙂

  3. First time seeing the anime videos from you. What are quails for, eating? Or for just the eggs. Because I don't think the quails live very long. I'd rather eat them.

  4. As a on old mulberry eater the stains on your fingers can be removed by rubbing your finger or clothing with red or green mulberries. Taught this at the age of 7 some 44 years ago.

  5. One think i hate is is a mulberry ,When I was a kid we eat so many of them that now I cant stand them the taste of them ,to me is disgusting now even when I look at them

  6. Thank you for having respect for the snakes. In the US a lot of dumb people see a snake and grab a shovel and kill it for absolutely no reason, just total ignorance and not good for the environment.
