  1. I live next to Lake Superior and it is cold 5-6 months a year. One chicken I have is about three years old. Is skinny, thin feathers, and her skin shows in places and the skin is very pink. Her comb is bright red, she is very active, free ranges, does not get picked on. No rooster. I thought she would not survive the winter but she did. Spring is here, she is ugly but very active. I do not know if she is laying eggs as I have 22 hens. During the winter they are stuck with crumbles, oyster shells, scraps, and bread. They do catch mice. Free ranging has started and her appearance has not changed.

  2. We have 8 chickens one black one one with a Afro thingy and 6 white ones from a family member for free who didn’t want them anymore than are amazing I love them one of the white ones is a dawarf chicken she’s the loudest tho. That a fed we’ll get any old fruit, veg scraps and a good amount of laying pellets

  3. my chickens do not have this reasons to losing a feathers, they do not have a tails and head feathers they are ripped off cause of horny roosters.
they are always chasing females to breed always, minute isn't gone you see them still chasing them and grabbing on tails ugh i swear village roosters are more gentle than town ones

  4. In uk it’s illegal to feed chickens from anything from our kitchen unless it’s a vegan household so we can’t do this cycle that you talk about in the beginning. I can open a tin of sweet corn as long as I’ve opened the tin in the garden and not brought it from the house. One of my chickens has a lot of feathers missing from her neck, she doesn’t seem to be picked on but all from her neck
