The freeze in Texas has taken out my raised beds. I covered them with tarps and towels weighed down with large brick. What can I do to keep my plans alive when it freezes?

Great video Mark. Great of you to touch on those 4 aspects with respect to gardening, which obviously have a wider application to life in general! Hey Mark, I always love your vids mate, hopefully 2018 is a big year for all of us. I hope you and your family had a cracking New Year … a live stream would be the logical next step on Youtube, I've looked into it myself but haven't taken the plunge yet. Also, have you considered starting a podcast, maybe once a month to begin with … that's something I'm looking into now to try and set up for 2019. I’m thinking about incubating some quail eggs and raising quail what do you recommend indoor or outdoor cage it’s winter rn where I live so they would start off inside

I've always wanted to come to Australia ever since I was a kid.
I'm 64 & physically disabled now so visiting now is not an option but at least I can see it via your site & others.
My step uncle Walter Montgomery lived in Australia & came to visit during the holidays in the 60's & showed us slides of all the beautiful gardens & sites as Australia began to blossom toward what it is today.
He tried to talk mom & dad into moving there but sadly we didn't.
He said mom could have opened a pie shop (she made great pies lol) but it wasn't in the cards for us.
I think he's buried there but not sure.

Ah, we have this nasty bomb cyclone in the southern part of the US. Freezing rain this coming Monday. There goes my lettuce. Oh well, can't wait for spring to re-plant my goodies. Speaking of seeds, the tomatoes from last season for example, yields smaller tomatoes. Monsatan genetically alters plants. Me paranoid? Perhaps.
Your corn looks wonderful Mark! Mines half the size, but has cobs so I'm optimistic, my first time growing it, it's fun!! I feel the same, it's exciting growing food and also gathering the knowledge (from you and other youtubers) to prepare for the worst. Every time I gather mulch matter for the gardens I feel as though I'm saving myself and my daughter in the future. Thanks for your vids and all the best for the year!
Love your work. The rain has been wonderful around the southern part of the state. Lawn looks lovely and green. Gardens are growing and the bees reaping the rewards. Looks like you could do with a couple of hives on the property too.

Got a few questions for you, you might want to cover later. 1) I've not seen your compost pile, do you have one, and I'd love to know your method. 2) Of the food that you grow, how much do you think that currently covers your family's needs? I know it would be an educated guess, but I'm sure you've seen it grow over the years, and I'd like to know your best guess. 3) Why is there a cat under your deck in a cage? 🙂

Isn't wifi expensive where you are? I heard they cap it there, where as here in Canada it's a flat fee per month on your cable tv bill. We pay 85 cnd for a 300gb speed unlimited data.
