VIDEO: MY RELATIONSHIP TO FOOD AS A GARDENER | salvaging kale

We got a nice enough day for me to get out and take a closer look at my kale that got damaged by a turn from warm early spring like weather, to -15c overnight temperatures. Our Winterbore kale is very cold hardy, and normally wouldn’t have issues with this weather, but we had some die back on the full grown leaves due to the shock. It seems like a waste to just let it go to the compost, and hasn’t started to turn colour, so I am salvaging what I can. And it made me realize that this is a perfect example of how my relationship to my homegrown food is different than how I would feel about things easily bought at the grocery store. I’ve been working for 6 months to be able to eat this kale. And I’m not going to let a little bit of wilt stop me.
