VIDEO: The 2 Signs Of POOR DESIGN!

These two signs are the giveaways and the evidence that something in your permaculture design isn’t right. Knowing the problem is the first step to fixing it, and in permaculture we know that technically there are no problems, only solutions.

  1. Thanks James great video I agree with you we should always be the student and willing to learn. I learned a lot from you then you introduced me to Paul Gautchi who is a great gardener.
Permaculture is a cycle we grow consume then we need to return something to the earth be it mulch or manure that provides us with all the abundance. It is necessary that we have animals to help enrich the soil with their manure, especially when growing vegetable even Paul Gautchi agrees with that.

  2. Hi James, as far as planting spring crops is concerned:. Do you start cukes and melons in cups around the same time as eggplants and tomatoes, or do you direct seed in mid spring? I've noticed you have a lot success in that category. thanks! Paul

  3. I think of unused outputs as pollution. Thinking in terms of systems and inputs -> outputs give you a huge head start in smart design in general. I try not to collect output, I try to use them asap, like trimming a tree, I find a place to put that brush before I make that cut. Great video like always!

  4. Thanks James for the videos. Stumbled on these a little over two weeks ago and has not only changed my perspective but has changed my view and opened new doors for me. Has spiked my interest in permaculture and a sustainable system. Thanks for all you do. All your videos have really inspired me to learn and create a system soon! Another jersey food Forrest coming soon!

  5. James, would you be willing to consider doing an episode on the details of a garden journal, please? I'm fully wanting to start a record, as its only my 2nd year gardening and this is the first year of my huge garden (it seems huge to me, anyway), and I'm not sure what to include or how to arrange it. Having a record right from the start seems enormously valuable. Or maybe, if you're not interested in that, you could point toward some other resources?? Thank you!

  6. Thanks for sharing that video with Bill and Geoff, they've got great chemistry. Also I never realised how much I wanted to see Yoda and Masanoba Fukuoka together until today lol

  7. Great video really enjoyed the lesson on waste and work. "Energy in over energy out" as Geoff always talks about. I am also itching for the growing season. Keep a look out I am gonna be documenting this season, many thanks for your inspiration!

  8. I love these shows James! Man, I'm really behind with everything. I haven't written down anything in the journal yet either. Thankfully, I've got some videos done so that will help me but it would be good to have everything written down too.

Video of the week was great too! Such humility, awesome to see it.
