  1. Sacrificial crops need to be the preferred food of the pest, and you need predators of the pest to keep the population low enough so the pest continues to have sufficient food so as not to choose to migrate. Hopefully the predator breeds faster and migrates across with the pest, or before the pest.
Maybe one strip that has perennial predator homes. Housing spiders, mantises and lady beetles. Maybe nest boxes for your local insectivorous birds.

  2. Now I see what your saying about how he rotates. Thank you for putting this up. Keeping your blocks the same for the season seems way easier. I can see this helping a ton on small plots!

  3. I just bought a house on an acre of land and my goal is to be able to have a profitable garden and homestead that I’m able to quit my job and do it full time. Please let me know if you could contact me personally for advice. I have been watching your videos and I feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start first. Thank you for your time

  4. If your plants are having aphid problems your plants are not healthy. Insects are garbage disposal. Nutrition and microbial activity is the key to developing plants that can be resistant to insects and disease.

  5. I think it is important for people to know, Aphids, when they find a place they like, don't even bother to have sex, they simply clone themselves, ergo they can get out of control super fast.
A good treatment is Beauveria Bassiana which is an entomopathagenic fungus, but I agree, better to just not plant certain crops at bookends of the aphid life cycle.
Knowing when Aphids arrive is key. They tend to show up before predators get active, this is why planting for predators is usually a waste of time imo.
However, once the world wakes up in warmer spring weather, Aphids are just about on everyone's menu.
