  1. I am glad that you are keeping in touch with us and sharing what you are doing. Love seeing your baby girl growing up. Although I am not anywhere near being a market gardener, I do learn from and enjoy your channel. Thank you for sharing, Curtis.

  2. Curtis, I bought some nursery flats from PaperPot Co. and have really enjoyed them. They are very high quality and definitely worth the money. However, I have been a bit frustrated that you guys dont sell any sort of drip trays. My microgreen operation is mostly inside my house, which is why I require drip trays. Will you be coming out with drip trays specifically for your nursery flats soon?

  3. Bittersweet episode. I want to begin by saying a massive thank you. You are the reason I began farming. You are approchable, honest and hardworking. Everyone of your countless videos is dotted with gems of wisdom. In truth your instructional videos have probably saved thousands of people thousands of hours of finding out the hard way. For this the farming world is grateful.

It’s obvious that you would naturally be drawn to what you do best…teaching people. That now means…online courses, seminars etc.

This is maybe where I think your story leaves something lacking. I got into farming after years as a programmer. Needed to get back to something real and meaningful. Your words and experiences gave me the courage to jump ship and make it happen.

I just don’t want to see my farming hero turn into an online course machine like every other joe on the Internet. You are so much more than that.

In any case you are a family man and bills need payin etc. I totally get that and no judgment about choices etc. Would just have been awesome to see the story turn out that you can farm, be happy and earn a good living without having to use the internet as a primary revenue stream.

Again thanks, you are a genuine inspiration. Don’t lose your dinosaur 😉

  4. I saw that new Jang in the intro and said "Whoa" out loud. Can't wait to see the video on that!
Love the videos, keep up the great work.

  5. Very interesting changes. My father is and grandfather was a part-time farmer in SW Indiana. In the 50 years they've owned the farm, the farm has gotten simpler and simpler. Gone are the small dairy, the small beef cow operation, the chickens, the garden plots. Now it is simply a corn and soybeans operation managed by a professional farmer. Its more profitable than ever, and less work.

  6. This all makes sense – just what Ben Hartman would (possibly) say – he has written the 'Lean farm' books (2). with regard to retail sales – this is where ALL my growth is, in fact restaurants are down so far this year – and retail is moreconsistent and predictable which is what you must have to minimise waste and maximise productivity. Great, thanks Curtis

  7. what part of the word are you in? is it that hot all year around? im in ireland we have a short growing season, i just started growing this year, our temperature is just hitting 15 or 16 degrees on a good day. all informantion really appreciated.

  8. We follow permaculture principles and we just reduced our crop diversity. There's no point in growing crops that don't sell at all and I think having 2-6 crops is better than having 1 crop. I think the permaculture crowd needs to factor in economics more. Not everyone is going to grow their own food so there will always be a marketplace for small farmers. We need to be able to make it to actually create lasting change in our world. Always fun to watch your videos, you have been a huge inspiration for us!

  9. Are you downsizing because there has been more interest in microgreens so the market is harder to comepete in? Not a dig just asking..

In terms of R&D.. With that BCS would it be worth experimenting in adding manure / compost to a bed and then supplimenting that with an organic liquid feed so you could focus on growing the same crop in the same area, so you could focus your crop even further without the worry of rotation?

With what you rotate in each bed id have thought pests would be the same anyway, it's only disease you need to worry about then but adding a liquid feed should help combat that buy keeping the soil nutrients up? Could even look at working a way to add a way to add / mix a liquid feed into the drip lines? maybe..

  10. I find it interesting Curtis stone runs the numbers when a crop is profitable but never rationises when he decided to drop a particular line, I would find the reasonings , rational and numbers interesting – he as gone from just doing cherry tomatoes to no tomatoes in 3 days for instance.
