Academia has dogmatic, hard and fast rules. These two seem to have learned from experience that things like plant toxicity are more nuanced. They also are correct in saying that people can have a positive impact on land through good management. Too often, we see the destruction that man causes, especially with exploitive agricultural practices and don't acknowledge that we can have just as much of a positive impact on the land. H K University is a good teacher if we open our eyes.
Thank you for my weekend education class! This series has been awesome! We might be going vegetarian again so our animals will have to be adapted to 1 acre out of 3 in rotation of old growth oak forest, We probably will not butcher however milk cheese are yummy! We will put our animals to work like in India only we are in West Michigan… open to any suggestions, alpaca guinea hens cow, i have a blank slate to work with. Pole barn is a given with a all year greenhouse, the animals we choose are negotiable according to what works on our space but critters will be housed in the barn, maybe a pig for land clearing, however we do not eat pig, sell after land is cleared, lend to others for same duties? So many possibilities. We love critters, eggs good, wool good, we are gardeners and food growers so this livestock thing is intimidating outside of bee hives and chickens, we want to be responsible caretakers in symbiosis with our animals, farm, community, and planet. Thank you in advance for suggestions we are here to learn aloha td
