I’ve had this garden tool now for over 30 years and it’s still going strong! This gardening hand tool is great as a cultivator or garden hoe and even for seed drills or everyday planting etc.

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂
Entrenching Tool you got there 🙂
Thanks
I have one I keep in my garage that I originally got for use when camping years ago, love it. got mine from the Australian army disposal store Aussie Disposals. would never part with it.
An ET Tool from The Department of Redundancy Dept.
That ET looks like a handy unit for the tool shed, one question though, can it "phone home"? 🙂 Thanks for the vid Mark. It's stupid hot here right now, nothing is growing but okra, hot peppers, mucadines and my friggin lawn,,,,,gg.
UB40!
I love mine but the pick broke off. It still I one of my most used tools. I had to replace the handle with metal conduit used in electrical systems. Works great!
Thanks Mark, never knew what it was properly called. Always keep one in the car for emergencies…a toilet roll fits the handle perfectly!
did u say fartsack? lol rucksack in american army. thats a good entrenching tool we got one that looked like a toy.

This is the german version of this great tool.
Very helpful when my drill officer called the command: "Make the Mole"
In the 1980er I dig so many big holes with this tool. 😉
While your on the subject of equipment, could you please do a video on the "fart sack". I am an American and a civilian and have no idea what this is… LOL
Hey Mark,
That’s why we are called “Diggers”, m8! aka “Rats of Tobruk”

Always loved the E-Tool. The U.S variant is very similar. Dug fighting positions and filled many a sand bag with it. Great for hacking, digging, and very tough. No surprise I use my issued one at home lol.
I just bought me one. I'm surprised I found this tool in my local hardware store. Although not military grade, it was only $8. 🙂
I bought 2 Etools for my garden just because of this video 🙂
Good on ya mate, can us yanks get our hands on it?
Discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago and when I first saw you use an ET and some of the ways you described things, I pegged you for an ex soldier. I have dug many a great hole with an ET and they are much more than fit for purpose. Proof army procurement can get it right. But you didnt show its other use….as a stool.
Thank you for sharing the story about your grandpa. It made me smile and took me back to some memories of my own grandpa.
So happy I found one in the attic had years ago as a kid, that shovel is the truth.
This is what I got for Mother’s Day last weekend after seeing how useful it is! I love it so much. I’ve named it “Doug”.
Hi Mark was looking on lots of websites for this E.T. can't find an original one with the pick. Any store or site you could suggest please.
Good and very accurate designs are on the Woodglut website.
