  1. Right on Curtis! Just because everyone has a platform for their opinion does not mean their opinions automatically have merit. I watched many of your videos(as well as other channels) appreciate what you do, and have started my own small scale gardening. It is a hell of a lot harder than you and many other channels with knowledge and experience make it look. But I value the input and learn by experience, not channel surfing. I love how all the non- judgmental folks judge and criticize without dipping their toe in the pool. Thanks for your efforts and be well.

  2. Curtis, thank you for sharing your farming experiences. When I first saw your channel, I invested in your book. I have limited space, so not all books stay in my library. Your Market Gardener is a solid valuable source of information…. whether a person is just gardening or market gardening. Your book has a space in my library.
And…. the video had no ad. I hope that was your choice and not some YouTube thang.
Oh. There's an old saying. "Takes all kinds to make the world go round". If we were all the same, each some cookie cutter robot, we'd all destroy this planet in no time; because we'd all be using the same resources and end up fighting each other even more as we compete. It's important that humans do things differently.
You're doing great…. your knowledge is appreciated. It's up to me to decide which things you share would be helpful in my own situation.

  3. I found your channel a little over a year ago. I poured over the videos with a notepad taking notes on the little things you said, and more often what I saw in the background. I used your information to help form and guide my development of my own little production. I'm nowhere near the scale you are as I do MG's and hydroponics on the side as a hustle. But, I have 6 full time customers, and a farmers market I sell too.
The point, I got the basic information from you and tweaked what I was doing for my scale and environment. Your "Doing" was crucial and getting me motivated and moving. It was also crucial that I recognized there are multiple ways of doing something and no one right way. I think many of your commenters would do well to recognize this. The true value in what you offer is a little guidance and a LOT of motivation to show it can be done, and some basic steps to help get you moving. Keyboard commado's kill me. I enjoy the fact you travel, and visit farms, and are open to learning from them, not just pushing your own agenda. I have no doubt you've tweaked your own format just a tad here and there based on what you've learned abroad. Keep doing what you're doing brother, you are changing the world while others just complain.

  4. Skin in the game, that says it all. Still love the channel Curtis, cool to see the shift to getting the word out about other farms.

  5. Excellent video, and for what it's worth, totally agree with everything you stated. I follow you because you have credibility and have "skin in the game". Oh, and it's not just you Curtis, the zealots are irritating many of us. Just keep on reapplying teflon to your armour so none of that crap in the comments sticks to you. I will never be a market garden farmer, however, many of your ideas are easily transferable into my on going 30+ year quest for an efficient, 4 season home garden in rural Ontario. From my perspective, the louder an opinionated and "no skin in the game" zealot screams, the more I ignore them. I totally appreciate your sharing and think that you add a lot of value to the world. Thank you.

  6. I started my Microgreens business and YouTube channel largely due to being inspired by you! The first thing I try to get people to do is to take action, get out there and do it, try it and learn! Thanks for everything man, I appreciate you.

  7. I've followed you for a year, watched part near every video since that time the day it came out, searched out the other videos you did on specific topics that came up in the current at that time vlog, followed many of the links in various descriptions and have a pile non of data from all that. Maybe you are NOT the know it all answer guy, but you have taken the action where needed, backed up and started over or discontinued that which did not work for YOU! That alone has saved me and hopefully other folks years of stress. I now have a better grasp of several areas of small scale intensive rotation that I had no clue of, having grown up on a 240 acre traditional farmstead. I've even got my my 14yr old computer geek son interested in small scale market gardening to a small degree [one day at a time] here in north central Idaho along the Clearwater river our climate is similar to that where you are in BC, though we may get colder some years mid winter.
I have enjoyed learning what you have done, and this time next year will have our own project expanding I believe.

  8. Bro your videos are very informative I've learnt a lot from u… however I believe viewers like the little things as well ..your reasons are justified however just saying probably some other aspect of your life just suggesting and it's totally just my opinion… not meant to compare but I enjoy Justin Rhodes because he's open to everything.. But your cool as well and I love your videos and as I said your reasons are justifiably. .thanks a lot stay bless!

  9. The course link gives me a page with a button, which gives me a 404 error, so that your course is not accessible, at least for me. Anything I'm doing wrong here?

  10. Wanted to take a second to chime in. Love your channel Curtis, and this is coming from someone with admittedly zero skin in the game as it were. I garden on my property in large part due to finding your channel, and our family has eaten on own veg this year because of the inspiration from your videos. My one comment to add to this convo is that though I 100% understand why you are making a shift in focus, our family could watch vlogs of what goes on at Green City Acres indefinitely and never get bored, regardless of whether it's 'something new'. Additionally, as casual viewers and fans of GCA, we're less interested in videos of other farms, and tend to watch them less. All of that is anecdotal, applicable only to us, and means exactly zero. 😀

Keep going – we love your content. Cheers!

  11. I have a text book PDC and I worried about the real world practicality of what I was taught. Much of it didn't make sense to me. I really appreciated your thoughts on permaculture. I bought some land and am about to have some skin in the game. Keep on doing what you're doing – we love you.

  12. I love this channel just the way it is….I’m not a professional, my wife and I garden for ourselves and nothing else. I have learned a ton from your vids and enjoy not only your home farm content, but also the traveling interviews. Keep up doing what makes u happy…..forget the haters and naysayers…..like u said, show us your perfect farm and stop hating on a great guy just showing a glimpse into his trials and tribulations, at no cost to u. I tell people all the time about ur channel, and refer to it when they ask where do u get your info…..I tell them, Curtis Stone Urban Farmer…..

  13. You are very generous human being, putting all your knowledge out there for everyone to see for free. Thanks for that and for your honesty. Other youtubers do not have much to say and are repeating the couple of things they know well over and over. It is great to see your analyses of things that work and do not work, for you and for others. Thanks again, and keep it up!

  14. If my family decided to document our lives and what we do on youtube, we'd probably be very well known. But a bit of thought on the subject revealed to us that whatever financial gain to be had, or positive influence, would not be worth the pure BS factor and hassle. We prefer to have our existence in the real world, and that won't be made any more meaningful by documenting and publicizing it. Everybody wants to be somebody online, a guru, a teacher. If you do approach that path, feel you genuinely have something that needs to be offered, please be careful, and do it with limits.

  15. You are right on all accounts
I always say you shouldnt judge or disapprove of someone else's ideals and ways and less you your have the experience or knowledge in the subject
