One day I hope to be able to be as hard working and happy as you on some land of our own. Maybe when my kids are a bit older and they can contribute to some homestead work… ha! I can dream at least. 🙂

I just bought 4 silver laced wyandotte chicks last weekend. This is the first batch of chickens I've ever had so much fun. Next weekend I'll be building a chicken coop. Wish me luck.

I've just moved to my homestead, and am going to raise chickens for eggs, meat, and self-sustaining reasons. I was wondering about having a rooster with my girls. Do I need to refrigerate these eggs more quickly than otherwise, because they could be fertilized. I raised chickens years and years ago for show. So I'm no newbie, but I never sold eggs. Please help! Love your stuff!
