This has been a very challenging summer, filled with family illnesses and other traumatic experiences. As a result, I’ve been somewhat preoccupied with worry for the future, and guilt for the past. However, I recently seem to have stumbled upon an effective technique for dealing with some of my stress and anxiety. Please join me for some Pointless Physical Work
I've been quick to tears because of personal bull shit for a while, but I was struck, confused and guilty when this pulled me to that place and I couldn't just wipe away the question of why. I've thrown myself into my work and art to rid myself of it as of late, I've been digging with all of me, but it's not making me any less likely to be cast into sobbing self retribution, and after some time I have come to this; I have been focusing on the hole instead of the digging.
I have been sending myself into doubt and regret and longing and fear, panic, loathing, jealousy, even dispondence with each shovel full, I have been digging a grave thinking of it's purpose, instead of digging a hole to dig. This realization, the understanding that I am doing for a result without joy in the doing has brought me to be immensely mournful of your finding joy in it.
I just hope that understanding, can bring me to uncover a love of it in my labor, I hope I don't just feed back into jealousy while I dig a grave for myself.
I just discovered your channel. I love your narration and words.
Beautiful and profound words, my friend.
It sounds like you might benefit greatly from meditation.
I'm glad you found something that works for you tho.

Thank you
You nailed it
OMG, it’s like back in 2018 you knew the novel Coronavirus was coming so you made a video just for me. Thank you from all of us in Year 2020.
this vid is healthy and underrated
Amazingly simple and right on point with this video! The mindless act of "working" is some of the best therapy to clean the cobwebs out of your way and clearly see the next day. Cheers
This has put me in mind of a Mark Twain quote that I have found useful in my more troubled moments – ' I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened. Worrying is like paying a debt you don't owe. I have spent most of my life worrying about things that have never happened.'
You got me with the title. I have arrived at the same conclusion, often working without thinking, having over analyzed everything weeks prior.
Life is like a dick.
Cuz sometimes is down and
Sometimes is hard
But it won't be hard forever…. yeah.
And life is short. ☺
Ha! Excellent
Beautifully written. Where did you get your inspiration for this "effective technique"?
Just stumbled across your video. This technique has been used for many, many years by Buddhist monks actually!! They create exquisite mandalas out of sand, only to destroy them. It is a wonderful grounding technique to keep you in the present! You might be interested in doing some research on this! Love your videos. Thank you for sharing!
If your digging a hole, plant a tree in it. You can view all your frustrations as growth.
I use daily housework for the day-to-day stresses and what not. I work on stuff like doing the dishes or vacuuming without worrying about the goal or end result or future or past. I just move my body and focus only on this moment, ie washing this part of this dish or making this fold on this shirt. It’s not about cleaning my home, it’s about being mindful about doing just one thing.
Brilliant. Thank you.
Orthodox Christian monks fill their lives with prayer and work, and prayerful work, to keep their toughts and bodies subdued to their wills.
