  1. I've been growing Carrots for a while and I always use a variety called Bolero as a reference to see if I can find a better variety and I still have not found one.

  2. This information could have easily been cut down to a 4-5 minute video. Don't watch – I'll save you the time… To get straighter carrots space out your rows and have soft soil.

  3. I water the heck out of mine, I thought it was necessary in hot weather to avoid them splitting. Every day of summer here is hot weather… But so far despite being spoiled the carrots have been a success.

  4. Luke, I keep hearing you make this measuring mistake…The phrase "On Center" means from the center of one to the center of the next…Ask any carpenter that you know (i.e., the wall studs go @ 16 inches on center…)

  5. People have come to expect "perfect" produce that they see in the grocery. Therefore they are suspicious of the health of anything that deviates from that standard.

  6. im a 72 year old gardener EX smallholder and have grown carrots in many ways l riddle my soil at least 3 times to take all the stones out and when sowing l mix carrots and spring onions (scallions) and sow thinly there is no thinning as the onions are ready before the carrots therefore your carrots get space and a bonus the onions help reduce carrot root fly

  7. Tendersweets are my favorite variety of carrot thus far taste wise. For years i always grew danvers half long but tendersweet are much sweeter. Danvers are a better cooking carrot though.

  8. Sorry to go off on a tangent but even though my carrots did quite well this year, we apparently acquired an infestation of Wireworms. I'd never seen them before. They ruined 2/3 of my carrot harvest. Do you know how to eradicate them?
