Ah, you always know how to make my root longer and stronger.
I've been growing Carrots for a while and I always use a variety called Bolero as a reference to see if I can find a better variety and I still have not found one.
They sell the misfit fruits and veggies to other companies that to put in frozen food or bags of frozen veggies etc….
How about, multi root carrots, still carrots. Can anyone suggest what to plant them in, for multi root effect? Maybe some expert out there?

I water the heck out of mine, I thought it was necessary in hot weather to avoid them splitting. Every day of summer here is hot weather… But so far despite being spoiled the carrots have been a success.
If you don’t water thoroughly and there is a dry horizon left in the soil after watering, that is a cause of forking supposedly.
Luke, I keep hearing you make this measuring mistake…The phrase "On Center" means from the center of one to the center of the next…Ask any carpenter that you know (i.e., the wall studs go @ 16 inches on center…)

im a 72 year old gardener EX smallholder and have grown carrots in many ways l riddle my soil at least 3 times to take all the stones out and when sowing l mix carrots and spring onions (scallions) and sow thinly there is no thinning as the onions are ready before the carrots therefore your carrots get space and a bonus the onions help reduce carrot root fly
You can eat the greens too. They have a taste of green mango and would be excellent for salads.

Tendersweets are my favorite variety of carrot thus far taste wise. For years i always grew danvers half long but tendersweet are much sweeter. Danvers are a better cooking carrot though.

intermittent watering – lol. Out here in Nova Scotia we had 2 days of heavy rains recently – non stop.
Eat the greens. Less desirable to the palette but contains more nutrients.
Sorry to go off on a tangent but even though my carrots did quite well this year, we apparently acquired an infestation of Wireworms. I'd never seen them before. They ruined 2/3 of my carrot harvest. Do you know how to eradicate them?
You said you yourself don't mix sand in your garden , but why introducing us to use sand?
