Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

  1. I've been binging your videos. Going to start growing outdoors next spring. I'm in Wisconsin so there's only so many months you can actually grow. Glad you enjoyed your time in America. Never really thought about the fermented cucumber (pickles) thing. lmao must have been weird seeing the stuff we eat.

  2. Hey Mark, I’m so glad you and your family had a good trip in our USA, I wish I could have met and shook your hand ( maybe some of your green thumb would have rubbed of and made me a better gardener like you) I have a very beautiful family! I hope I get to visit your awesome country some day. God bless you and your self sufficient life!!!

  3. We were happy to have ya over Mark. Next visit head outta the city and hit the backroads/rural areas/and farmers.

Btw you’ve got a great family.

  4. Dear, thanks for the nice content as usual. Yet let me tell you something: burgers are not "good" nor "simple". Not good for health, not good for people eating them, not good for the planet and certainly I would never call something requiring tons of vegetables-water-human work-animal suffering "simple". Also, your voice and look seems to have paid the price of all that not-good food. Anyway, much thanks for your hard work from Italy, keep going!

  5. Next time you are in L.A., and the "virus" is not rampaging, I can show you the garden set up we got going over here as well as the less "tourist-y" areas the locals like to frequent.

  6. It seems you loads and loads of different types of fruits and veggies which is wonderful! You can grow everything and anything and you will eat it all! I love your videos and learn something new everyday!

  7. No American really likes McDonald's burgers, it's the chicken nuggets, we also don't eat that much fast food. Most Americans do grocery shopping everyday and normally do a meat, a side of veggies and some potatoes. Or a big really common thing is spaghetti with a salad and toast. Sorry you got sick and your wife got hurt.

  8. I've been watching all of your videos most of them that come up on YouTube or very old I'm just now seeing this one come up and watched it and it's two years old how do I get the newer ones that you put on here please let me know I'm 75 years old and Don't Get Around Much Anymore except for my garden I don't do a whole lot . My name is Papa at least that's what the kids call me I'm in Tennessee USA

  9. Please don't judge us all by the people you met in the USA at Las Vegas most of us are poor and never get to see anything like Las Vegas. Las Vegas is where the people with money go on their vacation
