VIDEO: Incorporating Permaculture into Grazing Systems with John Nelson

Join John Henry Nelson, permaculturist and co-owner of Stone & Spade along with Rocco Sinicrope of Living Web Farms, for this workshop focused on the farm’s integrated permaculture and livestock system. We utilize methods to maximize nutrient and water capture that works in synergy with the landscape. Learn how to cycle nutrients and water in a rotational grazing system that includes intensive diverse cover cropping and annual vegetables. In part 1, John gives us an educational overview of Biodynamics and it’s ‘farm as a whole organism’ approach in caring for the land and animals.

  1. the worse thing for agriculture was CRP. the small guy trying to ekk out a living does not want it to erode away. the absentee landlord, many just want an escape from the city rat race to hunt, do not care (the small guy cannot afford to enter CRP)

  2. Love this presentation. Keep them coming. Also, do you do any anaerobic fermentation and if so how do you utilize it? I am constantly trying to find ways to utilize invasive and prolific plants like Johnson grass and bindweed as fertilizers.

  3. You've got to be careful before stating a belief that any chemical/biological
process can transmute radioactive elements, it marks you as scientifically
ignorant. It's easier to believe that bioactive raised crops did not pick up
radioactive elements because they weren't stressed for minerals. A healthy
waxy cutical could block foliar feeding of radioactive elements. The plants
could also have deeper roots bringing minerals from below where the
radioactivity got to. No need to believe in magic.
