This is one of the weirdest “mouse traps” I have ever witnessed! These mice got into our quail pen and it was a big mistake for them because the birds defended their home with devastating consequences as you’ll see in the video!

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂
Really weird thing to happen hey!? Why all in the one spot – did the birds place them there or was it a random coincidence? Thanks for your support! 🙂
3:52 Why is that greenish thing got a red outline??? It looks like you're in a video game with your cursor over it.
Santa needs to bring you a Trail Cam. You could set to 10 – 30 sec clip lengths or just still shots. I love mine.!
I'm just beginning to start farming quail for our own consumption your video's have been a great help ! Just a bit south of you near lismore nsw.
Hey, train your dogs to kill the rats, trained dogs kill hundreds of rats, there's also a video on that, where the farm fields get super cleaned with dogs. The rats live in the ground, inside. and the ground is being turned with dogs running after the rats and killing them right away. Hundreds in a couple of hours.I think it is the most efficient way to keep the farm clean. You cant fill all the holes.
Are you a new zealander? Chuckens ay mate
Chooks kill mice, quail are small!
A pile of sacrifices for the great quail god!
Geese will swallow mice whole
lol no way bro!
Interesting. Especially how they brought the bodies by the door all together. Like they were making sure the big man saw it and took them away
Field & hill dwelling mice can tunnel underground. My late husband was a certified, licensed exterminator. His expertise….mice, rodents, etc. We burned a hill down, in a control burn, and you could hear the mice screaming, in their dens, as they burned. Got rid of a huge problem in our neighborhood. We had an acre, that they were living in. We did it to "brush clear" and make it safer for our chickens, as snakes go underground too.
Wow that’s a tad creepy. But 1 thing I’ve researched & found, but never observed, #Quail are 1 of the few species that can & WILL #Eat disease carrying #TICKS! Gotta love ‘em for that.
the classic rural response of "it's not a dead thing I need in my garden"
~local scrubland gets fertalised~
Mark – your quail are ninja.
it's called your animals love you and they know you care
Attack of the Killer Quails! Seems like they are quite protective of their nests and eggs and will put up a fight. And they clean up afterwards, dragging the victims as far away from the breeding ground as possible.
A friend of mine has chickens on their property near Bombala NSW, the chickens have taken out black snake on several occasions with no harm to themselves.
It's also interesting when Goannas comes around (not near the chicken coop), all the wild birds (different species) join together and drive them away.
Beautiful nature sounds. What state are you located,?
Thank you
My quail are Aussie quail so they are small and miss got into my cage for them and killed all there baby’s
Love that animals can protect themselves
I have a brood of quails and they are brutal – especially the females.
Russel Crowe now raising quail Gladiator style.
I'm surprised you didnt 'recycle' the mice into your veggie garden soils.
