This is a Hoselink retractable hose reel review and I also took the opportunity to mention my 4 main reasons for why I water our garden by hand.

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

HI, mark I was trying to find the link you put for the hoselink hose which would give you some percentage of sales. I can't find it any more. Can you help?
I use to work at a big garden centre and i was the main waterer & my boss said you are way better than the irrigation system we have, you know what every different plant needs, not just covering everything with water the same amount of water like irrigation system dose
Mark, what do you do when you need to be away for more than a few days at a time? I've used drip irrigation for a few years, and think that the plants prefer the water from a hose than dripped into the soil. But our hot spring (Peachester, not far from you), Crematoria as Jerry Coleby Williams calls it, means plants can't go more than a day or so without water.
“My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.”
Great video sir, I just ordered on on the website. Cheers from Phoenix Arizona USA
Just bought one on your recommendation. I figured your honesty is really on show in your videos and that has been key to your success. I'm confident I've made the right decision and thank you for the advice to go this direction. I have a Holman reel currently around the back and I can't say it's been a pleasant experience, so the new addition that'll go on the front of the place will be a different story I'm sure, and the extra money spent will be worth it.
I'm an IT guy that works from home. So my best time of the day is after work when I'm outdoors watering, weeding and taking care of my garden.
How are the hoses doing now? 🙂 #2YearsLater
I know I'm a little late to the party on this video, but I love this channel so much. Honestly, it has been a way to take my mind off the world. Mark, your videos are quite therapeutic to me. Currently here in the US I'm trying to deal with my grandma being in the hospital, these past two years have been some of the hardest in my life, but you're channel brings me hope and comfort. I hope all is well over there.
As you guys say,
Cheers from NC, USA
Remember that you can buy quality once or cheap many times!! I prefer quality once.
Seriously, what is there to question?! Water is a very important resource and I can't stand the thought of wasting water by using a sprinkler. You are so right that it is the best time to check out for pests and maintain the plants. As always, thank you for not wasting my time by a lot of unnecessary talking.
I have an underground sprinkler system all over the yard, but it is blocked by the taller plants, and sometimes just by dirt, so not everything gets watered. I have to hand water to make sure everything gets enough.
I like being in the garden especially the front it allows me time to socialize with my neighbors keep the community tight if anyone wants to talk to just say hi I'm out there every day say time watering.
Nicely done, brother. Is it still working well for you?
Rewatching this after the Hoselink interview
Soaking the Sheila when she’s not expecting it. Ha ha / What a scream / hoot / shenanigans.
Fuck this video is old.
Is the hose still working? Mark
I do enjoy as well, but have dripper system throughout garden. Now I have more time to work on my yard, watering just too time, especially when u get home at 5 and have other responsibilities around the house.
Amazing jokes. Right in the eye !
I discovered Hoselink via Mark's Self Sufficient Me YouTube review video. It is a game changer to no longer have to fight with the heavy and twisted long hose which consists of 2 or 3 connected hoses. This cuts down my time spent watering the plants and leaves me more time to tend to other garden needs. I purchased the 82 ft hose and now anxiously anticipating the 100 ft hose to come out next year.
Hand watering is great. Unfortunately due to our climate becoming more extreme, water restrictions have meant only using buckets or a dedicating watering system.
Makes sense. It's therapeutic alright!
Great video. Which 4 in 1 tap connector you are using in this video?
We are a few years along now….do you still love the Hoselink reel? Does it still retract as effectively as it did when you first got it? Do you have any issues with it that have occurred over time? Love the videos.
It's a gd mindfullness activity
Water conservation for me mate (EX SAPPER) really good to regulate the water to different crops. I'm just buying one now after this review. Bargara QLD
Great channel mate
I think you water by hand mainly because you love to spent time with your plants.
