"No such thing as a free lunch"
Some people change lifestyles with a fantasy, not knowing the reality.
I appreciate your videos so much! Thank you!
Nothing is free is so true. Wherever you live! I don't necessarily want a homestead but I sure would like a small single bungalow with a yard and a front porch. But God has blessed me with what I do have. So I am thankful. Love your videos.. Peace and blessings.
This is why I love your videos. You tell the truth. Thank you much!
The word is Tanstaafl. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch. Lol
My kind of presents 🙂
Many of the You Tubers/"Homesteaders" really make it look like the dream life. Oh so romantic to whisk off to the country and live the life of 'Green Acres". They dive right into baby goats, to green houses, pig pens, to fancy chicken coops to bushel baskets of beef stake tomatoes from huge gardens etc. The plain translation, just like you say, is unending work and considerable amounts of money. In essence, you are pretty much married to your farm. Most folks who change to this lifestyle immediately dive into too much and then vapor lock when it soon overwhelms them. Great video here with very important message.
It's the lifestyle, not the financial savings, that make the life desirable. Being surrounded by nature. I'm sure homestead eggs cost at least as much as buying eggs in the store, and the same is probably true for meat, and maybe even vegetables! But you do get better quality.
Thank you for being so honest 🙂 I really admire that. God bless
Love! You had you a message to preach. Thanks for sharing.
I Love watching you! Your frankness is so refreshing.
I looove this post! Its brutally honest.. lol! Although i wanted to homestead… I just can't – it costs too much lol. I'm homesteading in the suburb haha… I have a huge lot, and raising quail for the eggs /meat … have other pets but, I'll tell ya, that these little guys can eat, and you have to constantly change their bedding…. It costs money honey! LOL
Our last chicken coop cost around a thousand dollars. Totally worth it!
Hello Ms. Patara – I just wanted to say that I simply love your down to earth you tube blog and I'm sending prayers and wishing you the best. You always hit home with your advice! Nothing is free and if it is I would be asking what's wrong with that picture. You are a natural presenter and it shows how committed and passionate you are about this lifestyle. Keep it coming and I will be watching.
I hear you big-time. Been there done that still doing it. Life on the farm.
So refreshing to hear the truth.
Love the honesty i don't homestead yet but bless you for telling the raw truth
I adore you! I found you today and I’m in love! I wish I could come spend time at your farm working and learning! God bless you! And thanks so much❤️
So I just found your channel and love it! Very informative! So I definitely understand it costs money to sustain a farm, but my question is are you generating that income with the farm? If so, all the costs are justifiable because the money is helping you make more money.
Harvey, I agree too!
Thanx for your honesty
Truth spoken … you are so realistic and openly honest.
Practicality is important. I love seeing your chickens and birds. Do you have bee hives?
Build cabins, rent them out to the public as a Farm Stay. Offer horseback riding, petting zoos, meals, cooking classes, and more activities to supplement your income. This is what I would do. Bob Evans started out serving meals at his farm and it became so popular, he started a successful chain of restaurants.
Gas less than $2.00 a gallon ……memories ……looking at about $3.00 now : {
I'm starting to get a little income every month from egg and chick sales after slowly building this homestead for 5 years, refusing to take a loan to create a business, but investing a little bit every month. Hard work pays off, I know I'm still far from my end goal but getting there! At least now animals pay for their own feed!
This may be the most honest homesteader on YouTube. Thanks for your candor, keep up the great content!
